You don't think the west hates Russia and wants to keep Russia down
The west for the most part didn't give a s*** about Russia until 3 weeks ago. Let's not pretend there was some simmering animosity about a place known more for viral car stunt insta videos than anything else

All due to Putin's ego, and in the meantime he's such a tough guy he's hiding in a bunker. A la Trump

Won't answer phone calls from Zelensky. Won't accept any offers of a face to face meeting. Coward.

My favourite part is at about 35 seconds when old mate opens the hatch and smoke starts pouring out with him. Don't know if it's him running away a bit later, but looks like he'll live to abandon another tank.

(post script: in the thread there's a longer version, and it's pretty clear old mate doesn't make it (after another explosion), plus another couple of old mates who clearly don't make it)

Yeah, here's the full version. Warning it is very graphic at the end.

Goes to show that the Russians still have no idea when it comes to sending tanks out in battle leaving them fully exposed.

There is a second tank that gets damaged at the end too.

Imagine your tank commander tells you to drive down an urban street with no supporting infantry, in fact enemy drones overhead watching your every move.

Seems like Tanks are pretty useless in the age of hand-held anti-tank missiles and $60 drones for spotting. These tanks didn't stand a chance.

And now apparently a deal in the making

No turnover of territory to the Russians. The only concession being Russian is guaranteed to become an official language in Ukraine.

I think this is a good deal for Ukraine if Russia agrees to pay reparations and also agrees that NATO can defend Ukraine in the event of another Russian attack or attack from proxies on behalf of Russia. There has to be some sort of security guarantee that the Russians can't break without serious consequences otherwise they'll just invade again.

Accept limits on their military so that in 2 years Putin can invade again and this time meet no resistance.
Yep, can't see Ukraine going for any kind of de-militarisation as part of a deal.

Ironically enough, the last 3 weeks would have confirmed to them and any neighbours exactly why they need to remain well armed.

Russian becoming an official language after English and Spanish and French

Biden is walking away from supporting a no fly zone for NATO because WW3 ..... just another example of the absence of leadership in any of the Euro countries, they are hiding behind Biden, how weak they are.

No fly zone where SAMs are being launched from Russian territory is massively problematic. Could work in the south of Ukraine but nothing within 100 miles of the Russian border.

Russians have been firing cruise missiles from TU-95 from within their borders. No fly zone won't stop that.

I don't think NATO is going to accept Ukraine given the probability of escalation.

Keeping the Ukrainian and forces intact though likely means equipment bought at a steep discount, NATO country trainers coming in as private contractors etc.

Ukraine can probably become a serious porcupine

If that's the deal then well played Vlad. Minimal gains to go with your tanked economy, loss of hardware and almost complete loss of respect in the world.

Totally worth it.

No limits on Ukranian military.

Just cant host a foreign military base. Wasn't on the cards anyway.

Yeah if thats the deal it is hard to imagine how someone in the Duma doesn't put a bullet in his head. Such a deal could easily have been achieved via diplomatic talks.

Were the Russians at the discussion ?
