Warnock Requests Trade

The Sun is running with the story now:

Says he is basically happy to end up anywhere but, in an ideal world, would go to Carlton to play with his brother. Articles says there is plenty of interest as well.

Still don't think it will be a huge loss for us and could have enough currency to get us something decent. Also mentions that Bate is weighing up his future also but we already suspected that.
Interpret this to mean that other clubs didn't hang-up after 2 seconds when his manager did the ring around.

Not quite sure what to expect for him to be honest. Clubs might be willing to part with a second rounder in a poor draft, but he has even further de-valued himself by requesting a trade.

2nd. rounder may be a bit of a stretch, but you can bet that Carlton will be having talks with him, as we were keen last year.
We'll see.

If Carlton were interested in him last year, I'm dumbfounded as to why we didn't trade him, even if it was for an upgraded draft pick. We already had Frawley, Garland and Rivers, and then we drafted 4 kpps.

BTW, what's the deal with Kane Lucas this year? Was he on the outer, or had a bad run with injuries?

Surely we have some credit left over from the McLean deal?

I say you give us Warnock and your second rounder and we call it even.

Credit is only redeemable for 12 months after the date of purchase. So I apologise but your credit for McLean is no longer valid.

However we would like to thank you for purchasing one of our old model players and hope we can do business in the future.

Yeah.... nah.... :)

Would Carlton have use for him though with Henderson, Bower and Jamison in the back half? Would taking someone like Warnock release Henderson to play forward again?

Don't worry, you will probably have him for nothing less than a 3rd rounder unless someone like St. Kilda shows serious interest in him.

Yeah but it was faulty when we bought it.

In all seriousness though would be good depth and might get hendo back up forward.
What would be a fair trade pick wise in the eyes of Dees fans?

Not a great deal I reckon. Maybe a third rounder at most, or a pick upgrade.

Our 3rd rounder to Carlton for their 2nd round pick?

Without calculating anything that would be an upgrade of maybe 9-10 spots

That's unlikely to happen as Carlton now look likely to have an open 1st. pick and will then reserve its 2nd. for Dylan Buckley.
Unlikely, but things can change.

Looks like Carlton's current 2nd round pick is committed to a father/son selection (Dylan Buckley) so that's a no goer.

It'd be interesting to see if they could get anything from GWS for Brick McLean. If they say could get pick 31 for McLean from GWS we could perhaps do a Warnock + pick 36 for pick 31 or some variant of that just as a hypothetical.

Edit: Having said that, we'd probably be better off dealing with GWS directly wrt Warnock if they have interest in a bigger body. They are in a different situation to every other team so we may as well try and take advantage. It's probably far fetched but Warnock + pick 54 (or some variant) for pick 31 would be a coup for us.

Wouldn't mind taking Kane Lucas off their hands but I don't think there is any potential for a deal there. Warnock and a 2nd rounder isn't nearly enough from where I sit but Blue fans might see it differently.

I like Matty Warnock as a player, but way too many deficiencies

Hope he gets the trade he's after, not expecting much in return

Pretty poor how he was axed and not provided feedback as to why

Though pumping him up for top 5 B&F places in years when we were the worst side I've ever seen, a bit disingenuous

Injured late last year, no pre-season & then I think niggling injuries most of the year trying to get into a good midfield.

He is still uncontracted, but you're right that's not enough. Maybe, but still unlikely, if it was a normal draft with some depth & our 2nd pick was low 20s.

Mid first round draft pick with 2 years into him who they obviously think he talent seeing as he got best first year player for them last year off 8 games, we'd have to offer a top 20 pick plus Warnock to even be close & I still suggest they might not accept that.

Yeh I wouldnt expect a second rounder for him - but I doubt a third round pick in this draft will interest us much. Hopefully there is a pick upgrade that can be worked or something.

Lol - good call.

Frankly I would be satisfied with a second round pick upgrade - but I suspect a third round pick may be all that is on offer.
