WCE 2010 Fixtures

Are we all stupid on this site?? How do you see playing virtually every top 4 team in Perth a good fixture while we play all the bottom 4 away (Obviously not Freo but that doesn't help either).

Same thing happened last year. How do you suspect we beat Geelong, St Kilda etc. I'd rather play them away as we'll lose these anyway and play some bottom 8 teams in Perth for 100% guaranteed wins.

I mean how fair is it to play Sydney away again - if it was in WA we'd lock it in, same for Richmond and Melbourne. Why is it every time we play shit teams twice in a year the next year we have to play them away. I'd rather have the same fixture mixed with Richmond, Melbourne and Sydney in WA and Geelong, St Kilda and Western Bulldogs away.

put it this way:

if we play good teams away and shit teams at home, we're guaranteed about 8-9 wins for the season as we arent going to beat any gun teams at their home ground.

this way, we have the chance of winning 12+ games and making the finals. if we're good enough.

Geelong, St Kilda and Collingwood were the only non-Freo team to beat us at Subi this year, but we pushed them pretty hard in all those matches, and we should improve whilst they'll hopefully slide(except Collingwood).

Besides, it's better to make the finals on merit rather than scraping in because of easy opponents, at least that way we won't get smashed first up like Essendon did.

I understand your point but I'd prefer those two games with Richmond and Melbourne at home while St Kilda and Adelaide are away.

From another intelligent Eagles supporter:-

"The Eagles have a tougher draw then last year, 13 games v top 8 finishers and 9 games v bottom 8 teams from last year." from the Robbo draw blog on herald sun.

I was trying to be nice in saying I understand your point, but read this and you may actually understand what I'm talking about.

An intelligent Eagles supporter wouldn't have got 'then' and 'than' confused;)

We play 12 against the top 8 and 10 against the bottom 8, which sounds fair consdiering that we can't play one of the bottom 8 sides at all.

Of the 4 top 8 sides we play twice, two of them are Essendon and Carlton who you'd expect to drop off this year.

We don't play Hawthorn twice, you'd expect them to be a top 8 side this year.

What Daniher says in the Hun:

While West Coast have been slated to travel in both Round 1 and Round 22 as it hopes to drag itself from the bottom half of the ladder.

“We had requested fewer night games and fewer six-day breaks, so we’re happy with the outcome in that respect,” West Coast football manager Neale Daniher said.

“It is disappointing, however, to travel for the first and last games, particularly with regards to round 22 as we hope we’ll be fighting for a position in the top eight.”

Im not so sure. Why because we could pencil home games against Richmond and Melbourne. But we are certainly a chance at beating them in Melbourne.

Are we good enough to beat Stkilda, Geelong and Adelaide at Subiaco? We have very good records against both StKilda and Adelaide at Subiaco and Geelong dont usually travel to Subiaco to play us im sure we can improve on this years performance where we lost by just 24 points.

What a draw like this does is increases the chances we could miss the eight if everything falls against us and if everything falls our way it would catapult us up the ladder.

Brisbane @ Gabba - Winnable, have a decent record against Brisbane and we stretched them last year. But the first round is often a bad indicator.
Port Adelaide @ Subiaco - Win, have a mixed record against Port but at home we should take the four points.
North Melbourne @ Etihad - Winnable, not convinced North are going to fall backwards next year. New coach and new year.
Essendon @ Subiaco - Win, not much has changed from last year. With our side at full strength ive got this as a win.
Sydney @ SCG - Winnable, as highlighted by last years excellent game against them. Poor record at SCG falls against us. Heavy trading on the part of Sydney might see them as totally different side to 2009.
Fremantle @ Subiaco - Winnable, but i would rather see this win in all honesty. Got to start kicking straight against these muppets.
Hawthorn @ Subiaco - Win, they will improve allot next year but im not sure by how much. Either way we have the cattle to play the brand of football we want at our own home ground.
Melbourne @ MCG - Winnable, who knows where Melbourne will be at but it should be a contest.
StKilda @ Subiaco - Winnable, lost last year but we have a very good record against StKilda in general. They dont like the way we play at 2009 should be considered a one of, we can beat them anyway.
Carlton @ Etihad - Loss, in the end i cant see us being strong enough away and i think Carlton have the upper hand between us.
Geelong @ Subiaco - Loss, but im convinced it will be close.
Richmong @ MCG - Winnable, new coach at Richmond but we should be aiming to beat sides like these.
Western Bulldogs @ Subiaco - Win. Good record against them, they dont like Subiaco, it's a long ground with plenty of room. They could however be prepared this time.
Collingwood @ Etihad - Loss, Bogey team.
Adelaide @ Subiaco - Win. Good side but we have an excellent record against them at Subiaco.
Essendon @ Etihad - Loss but we will be competitive.
Carlton @ Subiaco - Winnable, Carlton we play bad against them. With any luck we can reverse the form and spank Judd.
Fremantle @ Subiaco - Winnable, see other Derby.
Brisbane @ Subiaco - Win. Match up well but at home we will be to strong.
Port @ AAMI - Loss. Bad record against them at AAMI.
North @ Subiaco - Win. Lost one against them back a few years a Subiaco but this should be a strong win.
Geelong @ Skilled Stadium - Loss or we come back from 40 points at 3 qrter time.

I see a total of 6-16 wins, so i will pencil us in for 11 wins. I do hope we overcome all comers at Subiaco and then manage to knock up some away wins, would be a dream year. But on the flipside going backwards is still possible in football, even if we dont make the eight this is a good draw for the kids, they will learn how to win.

Hi guys and girls.

I've updated my fixture builder with the 2010 dates.

It builds CSV, iCal and PDF fixtures to import into Outlook/Thunderbird/Google Calendar/etc. Obviously the PDF is for printing!

You can customise your calendars, set reminders, categories, etc.

I have also built iCal (ics) calendars you can subscribe to, which will be updated with scores etc. once the season has started.

To create a customised calendar, go to: http://www.thismonkey.com/cgi-bin/football-fixture.pl?start=2010&end=2010&type=ha&code=afl

and to subscribe to 2010 calendars, go to: http://offsite.thismonkey.com/fixtures/afl/calendars/aus/2010/index.html

Please leave feedback if you like it, hate it, or think it needs improvement.

(You can find other football codes at http://www.thismonkey.com)

Thanks,
Go Pies,
Scott

What Daniher says in the Hun:
Daniher doesn't know what he's talking about.....

We'll be cemented in the eight by Round 22.

Not a bad draw overall, completely cutting our six day breaks while travelling will be a big help.

We play Geelong, Brisbane, Carlton and Essendon twice. If we're serious about making the eight those last two will probably be fighting it out with us, so we have a good chance to get ahead of them if we get wins on the board against them.

Should win both Derbies, although we were better both games this year and didn't win... Some tough games at Subiaco against quality teams will make or break our season.

Carn you Eagles!

Pretty happy with the fixture, only one game at AAMI so I'm looking forward to booking a flight or two to Perth during the year, and maybe get to a Victorian game too. Geelong at SS in R22 is a bit of a bitch, though, but the rest could be a lot worse... pretty confident we might be able to sneak into the finals.

These are the best fixtures I've seen since being a die hard Eagles fan. I don't know who we paid off to get something this good but I'll take it. Absolutely stoked :thumbsu:

Not to bad, 7 games in Vic this year which is good for us Vic Eagles :thumbsu:
Gives me a reasonable chance of turning up for one....:thumbsu:
Only one AAMI trip and that's not until Rd 20?

Thumbs up from me.
AAMI, we travel pretty well to AAMI:thumbsu:
and 14 minutes in to Q3

I was there, sitting right next to the Geelong cheer squad :D:D:D:D
OMG, that would have been insane:eek:

The family got home from an outing, and I spent the last quarter in the car going ape faeces listening to that game. Then got inside for a beer.... Woo Hoo.....:)

Anyways, I wanna bitch that Vics only get to see WC 6 times on free to air next year. That ******* sucks ******* testicles on ******, mean *****! ****ers:mad:

Agree:thumbsu:

Last year I looked down and could hardly tip a win.

2010 I look down and see winnable games everywhere.:D

Rnd 22 at Skilled is a bumer, move it to the MCG on Friday night and that would be alot fairer, if we look like making finals and have to travel the following week (3rd week in a row:mad:) then I could see a change of venue. More likely Ethiad but the MCG would be great, a 3rd game at the G in one season.....................amaaaaaaaaaaazing!
