WCE got bent over. If N. Thompson and J.Hay are worth a couple of 1st round picks in stronger drafts the Eagles copped a worse hidding than Power in the GF. There is no way the got properly compensated for Judd. They got blackmailed by Carlton and I think it sucks. Pick 1, 3 and 20 is only just enough for the best yound midfileder Ive seen. Carlton have won trade week hands down followed by Saints

no way. WC could have easily got nothing. Carlton didn't have to give up squat!!! Besides........as if Judd wants to depleat the team he will play for the next 9 years. WC won out easily on this one. Not like Judd had a contract.

Plenty of good kids coming through here in WA. Its bad to call a draft shallow until probably 2 years after they are recruited becase honestly, noone knows how they will all do in AFL.
Eagles didnt dominate but i believe we did ok. Nothing was gonna compensate Judd. And to be honest, i think we did just fine this year to finish 3rd(at end of H/A season) considering the number of injuries/outs we had all year. Weve lost some good players. We've got some ready made replacements and got some good picks.
Come on 2008 and heres hoping Kennedy gets a decent shot to hold his spot.
probably, although ive heard past 30 there is not much at all. if so the eagles woudl certianly have known this and would go for quality (top 30) over quantity (although maybe we werent that succesful in doing so)
however wouldn't the fact that WA dominated the U/18s make this a particularly strong draft for the eagles, due to the quality WA players (given the Judd saga)?
the eagles recruiting is *generally* pretty good anyway

No it is true they have been targetting Cotchin.
If they get him - pick 3 is as good as 1, if the Tiges grab Cotchin ...not much chop between 3, 4 & 5.

I must laugh - how many WC fans were calling JK a hack who could not get a run with a club that was dead last ....he is now a valuable commodity.
west coast are smart, have got their premiership, and now have put themselves in a position where they can build their team again without years outside of finals. still a quality top 8 team without judd, and with some smart drafting a premiership contender again in the not too distant future. wish some victorian teams would learn from wst coast n brisbane (carlton, richmond and stkilda come to mind.)

recruiters really need to be doing there best work once the pix get to 20+...history shows it becomes fairly hit and miss, refer to last couple of years and barely a player in the 20-30 bracket apart from shane edwards is worth mentioning

I dont thik that the tigers will grab cotchin especially since they got Morton from west coast
(i think they showed their hand and want Mortons brother) in saying that West coast could get the following (as an example)
