We better not make a straight swap Jackson Paine for Patrick Karnezis (Edit: too bad, we did)

Hope he doesn't go.

I must be one of the few that really rates him. Even in the seniors in the limied games he's played he's kicked a goal or two each game. That's all you want from a 2nd or 3rd forward.

Averaging 8 disposals and 2.5 marks a game is not enough if you're a 2nd/3rd forward.

He's terrible once the ball hits ground level, and has no defensive side to his game. He monsters a few of the VFL boys at reserve level but doesnt have what it takes at the big time IMO.

Just like we did Jordan Russell and QStick?
I don't even want karnezis but even I can see how this is a completely different scenario. Russell and Qstick were declining veterns. Karnezis is a young prospect.

It's a strange one to decide one. He is young, nice kicking action, 45 goals in VFL but yet the times I've seen him play at Vic Park I think nup!!! He even looks lost sometimes yet still walks away with a few goals. Maybe he'd do better somewhere else? .... or needs to work on another string to his bow.

Personally, if he wanted to stay he is certainly worth another year to prove himself.

Wouldn't be entirely opposed to this trade, but I'd rather get the Greek for pick 67 or whatever it is than give up another player who occupies a position that holds little depth.

I see a little something in Paine and I'd prefer we persist

If Paine persists we may need to see our doctors.

I'm worried we told Brisbane he is 194cm
What happens when they find out he is 191?

I've mentioned in a thread before that I have a photo of me taken with Jack Paine, standing shoulder to shoulder. I'm 194 cm, and he is easily as tall with me, and he had no shoes on. He is taller than the 191 that most on here say he is.

Pick 50 in 2011 who has kicked 8 goals in 6 games over two years.(Paine)

v

Pick 25 in 2010 who has kicked 24 goals in 21 games. (PK)

Both fringe players who struggled to get a game for their respective sides. Think if anything PK has more upside but Paine meets a need for Brisbane so think it stacks up fairly even for a straight swap.

This is the most baffling trade I've seen in years and one that will bite us on the arse big time.

Why on earth would you give away a developing key position prospect that just kicked 45 goals in the VFL at the age of 20 for a list clogging unaccountable half forward/mid who cant get a game for Brisbane!

I am shocked and furious.

I love these quotes by our posters. One was doing rounds earlier about how 'If we don't draft Dayle Garlett it will come back to bite us in the arse big time"

I thought Paine should've been given a game this year. He wasn't because obviously he wasn't doing something well, his defensive game, same as PK, so it seems like a fair swap.

I didn't mind Paine in his first year but where is the development forward? He's negative attributes have been mentioned. I'd add the two biggest for me that haven't been mentioned are for his size to be good you need longer arms, his reach is poor. He also doesn't have much spring, so two things you need as an undersized KPF he doesn't have.

Good luck to him & i reckon it's a win win.

You were one of those Jaxson Barham supporters weren't you?

HE'S NOT KEY POSITION.

He's too slow to be a 3rd forward and not strong enough in the air to be a 2nd forward.

I went into 2013 hoping that he'd improve on what he showed in 2012 but he didn't, he stagnated, in fact if anything he went backwards and that was showed by the fact that he couldn't get a game, even when Fasolo was out for the year.

This is a fair trade if there ever was one, I seriously doubt if either player will be still playing AFL football at the top level in 3-4 years, but both could be "serviceable" in time.

Sums it up not big enough to be a KPF not quick or flexible enough to be your 3rd tall

His a poor version of JA

With the way Brisbane have been trading we might be able to just swap pick 10 for 7 without having to add anything.
