Because of the need to win by 23 or more points against Collingwood to leapfrog them it means that we only win if we reach this margin. It will be fascinating to see the players in the last quarter if we are around 20 points up. Everyone knows the margin that we need to win by including the players and they will no doubt be setting that margin as the win loss line. If we are up by 30 points with 2 minutes to go watch for the Pies to go beserk trying to get the margin back to 22 or below. Can't wait.

Or if we're 15 points up with 2 minutes to go - we'll go beserk! It's one of those rare footy games when simply being in front is not enough - looking forward to seeing how the match is played out tactically.

We win if we are in front of them at the end of the day. Frankly, I wouldn't care if we only "just" won. A win is a win, and it doesn't matter who our first up opponent is. It won't change anything. If we're good enough, we'll be able to beat any team on any day. If we're good enough to beat Collingwood anyway, we should be good enough to beat anyone, as they are clearly the best team at the moment.

Well said! :thumbsu:

Based on the last two weeks I don't care who we play. The dogs are good enough now to believe we can beat anyone on any ground. If we win we win I don't care about margins because if we play the Saints and win then all of a suddern that round 22 game against the Magpies which we only won by 20 points will be insignificant. All I want is a good win and for our boys to get through without injuries or suspension.

What he said.

To win the flag, we're going to have to play the Cats and the Saints anyway...

I hear ya and I agree that you've got to beat both Saints and the Cats to win the flag. But you know as well as I do that if the margin starts hovering around 17 or 29 points with 2 minutes left, you'll start sweating and praying just like me. Praise the Lord EJ!

Haha your dead right. It will be funny to watch considering we will by up by 21 points with the game won with 2 minutes left acting as if it is a thriller and if we leave the ground winning by 21 we will be more dissapointed :p.

This was thoroughly discussed after Sunday and the margin to change 3rd is 22

Bulldogs win by 21 or less and Collingwood finish 3rd
Bulldogs win by 22 or more and Bulldogs finish 3rd.

Bulldogs lose and about 110 combined margin (highly improbable) with the winner of Adelaide Carlton and Bulldogs can slip to 5th.

Club would not be thinking of Margins at all. They will be playing to win and that is it. Who plays who in the finals will be settled at the end of the round and players will not care if they play StKilda or Geelong. If they do then they have lost the next game already as they will think Geelong will be easy and StKilda will be to hard. Hence they will be week minded spuds who mentally will never get a flag. I think we just take on whoever we get and go out there with a kill all attitude.

There is another thought that people have missed.
We beat them by over 100 points and they drop down to 5th and get eliminated in the 1st week.:D

Sorry pies supporters just having a bit of fun!
