Well I am gonna write this and post this.... before HoneyBadger35 unleashes his hammer on me an bans m account for posting 36 hours too late. lol

I wish Harley Reid the best either way.

Anything can happen. He could be injury riddled liek Anthony Morabito, but I hope not.

My prediction , I reckon Reid will play 250-300 AFL games. Whether he plays all of his career in West coast is the big debate.

Everyone is obessed with Inside mids with Pace.... The Chris Judds, the Benny cousins, the Daniel Kerr types. The Andrew Embley types (yes Andrew Embley played on a wing, but the bloke was 190 cm and 90 kg he was built, even for a winger).

I dont think he will leave early.

My Prediction will be one of 2 paths.

1. A similar career as Chris Judd. I think Reid will stay here for 8 seasons. Leave West coast as a free agent. But it will be a good 8 seasons and 140-170 games played. He will spend 2024-27 developing. He will struggle 1st with the lack of help around him. Once he hits 21 or 22 years old with more experience around him, he will be a much better player.

By 2028, he will be in his 5th year and possibly captain in 2028 too. 2028-31, finals window at west coast, win a premiership medal in 2029 or 2030 or 2031. He leaves back at Victoria as a free agent. Spends 6 or 7 years at a Victorian club but doesnt reach the heights as he did at west coast. Chris Judds best years were between 2004-7. Judd had 4 good years at carlton from 2008-11 but was injury riddled from 2012-15.

2. Does what many Eagles players have done and spend his whole career at West coast. Plays 14 or 15 or 16 seasons and plays 250-300 games.

I hope HoneyBadger35 is offended with post.

And becomes a staunch proponent of West Australian secession.

Going as far as to work on one of Gina’s dump trucks in the offseason digging a moat between wa and those filthy eastern scum, stealing our mining wealth.

I am loving that there is a constant byline now through all these new draftees (and even the last few drafts) where it's the kids taking over the joint. Everything is about "us new kids" "the young group coming through" I hope the 18-22 year olds grab the club by the collar and drag it forward, kicking and screaming if they have to.

All the first year players live in Sorrento nowadays if they dont want a host family. Club owns some apartments in the area. Barnett/Maric are roommates in one. Reid will probably be roommates with Gilbee in one for example (2 x 1s). I think the area is legacy from when the team wanted players to do beach training so plonked them close to the beach.

Sorrento is a poor mans Mullaloo to be fair.

I also don't see how Sorrento is "north east" when it's blatanly a coastal suburb west of the freeway.

Perhaps he'll bump into Biiig Tommy from West Coast fan TV and Plus fitness for an interview.
Anything above Karrinyup Rd is norf. It's above Harley Reid Hwy so it's far north.

Is owning property and allowing players to reside in them at a reduced rate or even free a breach of salary cap or something similar?

You'd think it'd be a shrewd move to have a dozen properties for players to share for a few years when they first move over, just to ease the settle in process, save them some money and for a good investment anyway. Likely already doing it.

We have like half a dozen apartments I think all up so not too many, we should have more I feel for times when we do have 25+ youngsters on the list.

Rent comes out of their pay

And if they sleep in the staffroom at one of Simmo's Hungry Jacks?

I've heard Gov has been doing this since 2015 despite having his own house in Perth.
