Not sure how I got that wrong!

But yeah... thought it was a sure injury (opponent might have been Rioli?) and he got out of it somehow.
Ginbey seems to get himself in situations where he looks like he’s going to get injured. Not sure why, just seems to have happened a few times already over the last year.

As a North supporter it’s hard for me to follow this page with some things that get said haha.

But obviously I follow it closely with my personal connection with harley.

I have come to terms with me wanting WC to do well with everything that’s gone on.

What a performance / win from your boys. The flow on affect that has to a side that’s down the bottom trying to rebuild is enormous.

Harley has gone to work on building his tank up as it wasn’t up to par and now it’s starting to show.

His loving it over there - Himself and Gillbee are moving into a new place (one of Luke Shuey’s joints).

The way the club have supported him and his family has been second to none which is obviously why you have such a good history of keeping players from Vic.

He is no flight risk / chance of doing a JHF!

All tho 2 goals and 27 touches would’ve been better then the 1 goal and 27 touches. He cost me $400 which I’ve already let him know about.
Try not to take it personally. Frankly I love your insight and contribution to our board.

Any jabs at North are mostly for flogs like Snake and Nostradamus. Blokes that constantly poked the bear last off season and trolled us on our own board.

I know anytime I give North a clip it’s mostly for the likes of them.

I would be more than happy to see North give the rest of the Vic clubs a big shit sandwich to munch on for the next 10 years.

From Simmo to Petrie, Laidley to Rawlings. I think there’s plenty of respect and admiration between the two clubs.

I'm on the rewatch. Just came here to say Reid has a serious man crush on Yeo. After Yeo kicked that second goal Reid was so pumped up

It's so awesome hey. Late last year you kind of got the feeling Harley didn't really know much about the club and would struggle to name a dozen of our guys. I like to think that with Yeo being out so long Harleys rocked up to the club and discovered to his surprise that he's been idolising Dustin Martin all these years and some bloke he's never seen play a game of football turns out to secretly be maybe the best midfielder in the AFL and the perfect mentor for him. And for Yeo's part, you feel like he's finally found himself a partner in crime and is genuinely enjoying his footy. It's shaping up as one of my favourite ever west coast storylines.

At one of our training sessions during preseason Yeo and Harley went head to head in match sim and then were paired up in a 1v1 contested ball scrimmage

Yeo dominated him in the manner of an old buck putting a challenger in his place

It was fun to watch and even though Harley got beaten he kept fronting up undeterred

There’s a genuine respect between the two

Hopefully we can get another 2-3+ years out of Yeo because they have the makings of a great combination

Batman and Robin.
Or maybe Batman and Nigtwing, still the junior but also pretty flipping good stand alone.

Reids been amazing, but he hasnt been Rowell levels in his first few games, Rowell has a quiet first game with only 19 touches, then went on to get 3 best on groudns in a row, before getting injured in his 5th. 3 out of 4 games, 3 brownlow votes in each

Reid has definitely more upside for sure though
20 touches and BOG.... rowell isnt on harleys level

It’s definitely reciprocal. Yeo was hanging around like a bad smell waiting for Harley to finish up his post match interview and then gave him a big hug in the middle of the oval. Great to see from the two midfield bulls.

Another exanple of how young guns come in and give the old blokes a boost and can lift the energy of the playing group.

Obviously Yeo regaining his fitness has been a great outcome so far. Fingers crossed he can enjoy his football again.

Hoping its the crazy rates that 25 and 2 may have been at that has cost you.
Alot on our board had bitter sweetness over our win last year vs the doggies, and were mind blown when you decided to give us the 1 2 handball revive next week.
Glad you can enjoy watching the player even if he isn't with your team.
Hope you have a bunch of players that you get to watch getting you as exited as we can get about Reid.

The hype over here in Tonny is off the charts but this group is just the same as it is here!

Wouldn’t it be special to see Yeo, the veteran, and Reid, the up and comer, tearing through oppo teams together? Master and apprentice vibes
I was dreaming of this earlier in the year! Rapt to see it come to fruition. Awesome to watch. Though Reid won’t be an apprentice for long with his current trajectory!

As an aside, I think the stand rule really suits him as he can blast past the standing opposition and fend off if needed by the time the ump calls play on. He did it late in the last quarter yesterday. Brilliant.

Must be great for the town seeing one of their own lighting it up in the big league regardless of which team Harley plays for

Suspect like most small rural towns at the moment life isn’t always easy in Tongala (that’s not intended as a criticism) so it’d be nice to have something to boost spirits

In time I think a visit to Tongala to pay respects will be a part of any Eagles fan travel itinerary when in Victoria

There's a weird conventional wisdom that gets reeled out by the media whenever they talk about west coast's list at the moment - that we should have traded our veterans (Yeo, Gov)

That's madness to me. Watching Reid bond with & learn from Yeo is immense.

Even players like Gaff - the game's passed him, but the knowledge, professionalism and standards he sets is invaluable for young players to learn from.

Also is trading all your veteren stars a list strategy that even works? Certainly didn't work for North or Hawthorn.

Always need experience to go with the youth - Gold Coast tried building a list almost completely with youth, and it didn't work. They still havent played finals, where as GWS had a better balance, and have played in multiple finals include a Grand Final in same time.

Watching his evolution from the preseason matches to now is extraordinary, can't think of any player who has had a similar trajectory. Even Judd, whilst really impressive in year 1, didn't radically improve from week to week. Harley is picking up stuff in a few weeks that it takes most kids years.

He has gone from 'I can't handle the pace of a preseason game/can't shrug AFL strength players' to 'here are some good highlights' to 'ok I'm a handy burst player ' to 'I'm an elite midfielder and if you try and tackle me I'll laugh at you' in the space of 6 weeks. And the one thing which has been consistent throughout those games is the natural self belief and desire to take the game when he has the ball- even in the preseason games when he hadn't figured out how to impact contests or beat AFL level tacklers that mentality stuck out- he was getting caught because he wouldn't settle for nothing touches.

What I thought was jawdropping against Richmond is he's now not just shrugging tackles, he's using the fear that aspect of his game creates to sucker people into giving away free kicks - opposition mids are going at him super hard because they don't want to end up in the background of a highlight reel and he's using the classic shuey arm lift to exploit over aggressive tackling and get high frees. That is something most mids take 150+ games to master and he's doing it in Rd 5 of his first season.

Every so often a player comes along with top tier physical gifts- much much rarer is that + a natural football brain and extreme self confidence. That combination is where once in a generation players come from, and that's Harley.

Reid is incredible, but how many times today did soon to be 3 times club champion and All Australia Elliot Yeo get the pill to him, like in this video?
Genuine all round beast is Yeo. Without injury could be AA hbf every year and probably makes the cut as AA midfielder every second year at least.

I wish we saw more of him these last few years, Ryan too.

The silver lining to Yeo missing so many games over the last 4 years is that his body won’t be as banged up as a typical inside mid his age. The relative lack of impact injuries may mean we get a few more years as an inside mid before a switch to the HBF for the last couple of years of his career. Signing him now would be an excellent move from a retention point of view but also with being able to offer to extend Harley next week should he wish to do so. The win couldn’t have come at a better time, everyone is feeling good, lock the 6 down then let’s chat to the 9.
