I recall conflicting information where a rising star nomination would trigger it.

But I read it didn't.

Are these things really in his contract/criteria? And if so, how are we privvy to it?

Is there something league wide for the new 3 yr contract first rounders get instead of two, that they can get a pay rise 3rd year if they meet award criteria?

Hope the young fella's doing ok. Was doing some late night IG scrolling before bed out of boredom and decided to check his page out, was crapping myself because I thought he deleted his post Western Derby celebration post where he tagged the team as family then realised he pinned the post.

Him using his IG as basically an advertising billboard with comment limits on his posts is probably the smartest thing a first year player's ever done.

Bit concerned about him raiisng his arms to play for the frees. Needs to stamp that out.

Nah I dunno - I think his whole gamestyle is the nuclear option - as in "if you're going to tackle me correctly I'll fend you off, if you're going to catch me I'll extract myself, if you're going to nail me properly I'll get the hands off at least" - it's fun to watch and it's good for the game.

The problem is there's another option coming into play which is under the letter of the law "if you're going to tackle me high or scrag me before I've got anywhere near the ball it's going to be a free" - those ones need to be paid if they're there (obviously don't reward blatant ducking but I don't think he does that, it's more a part of the threat package).

Those ones got ignored on the weekend and I think it's just a shit statement for the game if that's allowed to be ok week after week - let him play each instance as if it would be judged how it would be for Jack Crisp (I genuinely like him but a good example of the most standard respectable but not overly looked after big VFL team midfielder I could think of).

If you're making an umpiring decision based on a player having different traits to Jack Crisp you're making the wrong decision IMO.

The good thing about Harley slowly going from AFL darling to villain oppo supporters hate is he will appreciate the support from his team mates and our supporters even more.

It’ll create a bit of an us v them mentality and he’ll meld with the club even more so.

This type of stuff has a binding effect.

I thought it was a Rising Star nomination, not necessarily winning the RS? Could be wrong though.

Fox had it as he has to achieve one of the following:
-Finish top 10 in the Brownlow Medal
-Finish top five in the club best and fairest
-Finish top five in the AFL Rising Star
-Make the All-Australian squad
-Receive a Rising Star nomination (20+ senior matches, Picks 1-5 only)

Craig O'Donaghue on Duff's show this morning said that tagging has been outlawed in the U/18 comps now... so this last weekend was the first time Harley would have been tagged at any level, which I thought was interesting.

Maybe Harley can do what Nick Daicos did when first getting tagged, by running to an opposition player and drawing the tag with you, making it 2v1 where you are which frees up another player?

Doubt it gets down to low (didn't Wilson do a HIA?) but as long as he plays next week by their own definition it can't be high
