Serious question, did we trade with the intention of getting a pick upgrade from Melbourne tomorrow. Given we could have grabbed him for nothing earlier?
we were going to pass on pick 94 anyway....so we just did the deal now
think bombers did same thing on chappy 2 years ago

Welcome to the mighty Hawks, please form a line behind Roughead and collect your medal.

In all seriousness I'm not expecting much from him , but Melbourne have a recent record of turfing out big men that go on to do well. If he can do half what stefan Martin has done we won't be complaining.
Monky will certainly bring out the best in him that's for sure!

Desperately needed to increase our ruck stocks and we did it smart, with a rather speculative pick that cost us little. Now that we've ticked that little need off our list, we can concentrate on other, more pressing requirements in the draft. :thumbsu:

Lots of luck, Jack. I hope you can develop into something that no one is expecting.

Shattered to lose a Jack, thought he deserved to play more games than he did. I'd rather have kept him and ****ed off Dawes and/or Spencer.
Fitzy was one of my favourites and I hope he does well at his new club.
i hope that pick 94 doesnt haunt us
Will likely use it to upgrade Aaron Vandenberg to the senior list.

Work with a couple of blokes who play for Casey....they reckon Fitzpatrick is a complete and utter spud.

I know we need backup, but if BB or Cegs needed a rest, I'd rather give a game to Pittonet over Fitz-*******.

Hopefully he improves at a club that actually know how to develop players. Nat Fyfe would probably be a spud at Melbourne given their track record.

Would rather take notice of Wright than "a couple of blokes";)

A curious selection, was part of the unusual Melbourne 2009 draft where they took 2 X 18yo bean poles (Gawn & Fitzpatrick).

Was No 1 at the 2009 Draft camp for repeat sprints and his career best form was with Vic Metro in 2007 in the U16 Championships (long, long time ago).
Suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a youngster, hence the inconsistency early on. A diagnosis of type 1 diabetes at 21 years of age has also added to his challenges.

Lead the goal kicking for Casey in 2012, even though his set shot conversion was just 48%. In season 2013 he played every match from rounds 10 - 21 for Melbourne, ranking No 1 at the club for scoreboard impact, disposals inside 50 and marks inside 50 in this time. His field kicking was also ranked as elite (2nd best in the AFL for a key forward) over this time.

2014 he failed to make an impact at senior level (4 AFL games, subbed off twice), however was consistent in the VFL (averaging 99 Champion Data ranking points per match). 2015 saw another year in the VFL, in these 13 games he took over 10 marks 4 times (played mostly ruck). A decent highlights package from this season, with a 60m run with 3 bounces ending in a goal (rd 16) and a kick out of the ruck also making the VFL plays of the week (rd 17).

He's had his issues, but at 24yo, 200cm & 100kg, he's a solid back up fwd / ruck - welcome to the family club Fitzy!

He has elite speed and acceleration for a tall. Best case scenario in my opinion would be that he becomes a negating key defender for us.
Held Tom Boyd to one handball when we played the Dogs. I think the tunnelball against the Pies was the career killer.
