It could be worse. He could have done it in Round 23. Right at the end of a shitty season. At least with the standard recovery time, he can be ready after the first bit of next year 🤞

It wouldn't have been worse as he would've played more games by then, therefore making it an easier injury to come back from.

Lol civil war.
Who's on which side?

Yep I totally agree with the new contract. This goes against how I wish we'd managed a lot of other players - but I genuinely do hope we throw good money at him.

He was a clear #1 midseason pick, it wasn't this ridiculous show of faith selecting him by us. I'm sure we've looked after him and all but his partner is still Vic and he'd have a fair bit of interest. We've also had poor on-field success, he's been pretty injured (which I feel like he won't blame us for and maybe he shouldn't but there'd be teams like Collingwood getting in his ear about their state of the art S+C and what it could do for his career etc).

I reckon it's time for us to overdo a contract for a player who's well before his prime, rather than for a player who's just about to leave it (Gaff/McGovern etc, obviously know Gov has put up incredible games in the last few years when he hasn't been injured so not pinning it on either of those players but still).

He's a point of difference, exciting talent who has the personality to be a leader for us going forward. Let's invest in him now

It will be a tough decision for Jai if other teams are knocking.
The club's immediate future is not something to look forward to and plus if he buys into the idea that WC is not good at keeping their players fit, then I wouldn't begrudge him considering other options for a fresh start if the situation looks better at the other teams.
He has no ties to WA and has only been around for less than a year.
He's uncontracted at the end of the year, and there's not much keeping him here.
The only thing that would make him stay is loyalty and any bonds he's made with the other players.

Main list at a minimum, his partner won't have any issues finding a job here with the club connections either. That puts him on 200-300k a year? Huge jump up for him, drop in the ocean for us given his potential
