If we are going to persist with Jetta, I would like to see him play in the forward 50. I feel he has the attributes to perform as a crumbing forward or using his pace to lead up at the ball, and in turn running into space towards goal.

I tend do agree see how he goes up forward

It is loaded....but after the Sampi episode, and the hysteria over the comments from Rendell over the so called indigenous player retention crisis etc...are we gonna pretend it isn't an issue that's at least somewhere in the minds of the footy club?

Biggest sporting club in the state, multi million dollar business...you think they are gonna run the risk of being seen to have a high profile indigenous recruit come back to WA and then have him walk out on the footy club after 6 weeks of the season....and after having been involved in a racially incindiery episode against us at subi last year playing for his former club....and with a clown like Goodes lurking in the shadows just waiting to jump on board and start throwing political and racial grenades around in the media at the first hint of trouble...come on mate don't be so naive.

This isn't a race thing for me, it's a public relations thing, and I want to protect my footy club from the media and the professional agitators thing.

Let's make that clear.

Can some one delete this guys posts? What a joke. The suggestion that he would walk out on the club is absurd.

If the home crowd gets into him in the same way they did Tom Swift then Jetta would be with in his rights to say up yours. Hopefully that wouldn't lead to him leaving like Swift, but no one deserves to be ridiculed and cheered when the run of the ground. If you feel that strongly blame the coach and the SC that pick the team. Not the player.

I think him playing bad would be more of a concern to him, then it is to us.

The Goodes stuff doesn't even deserve a response.

His best attribute aside from his speed (which is immediately obvious) is his kicking. He has great vision but more importantly his kicking is sublime. He would be perfect kicking into your dangerous forward line.

People are forgetting it took all our players a long time to adjust to the new coaching structures. Took the best part of 2014 before we started playing some decent footy under Simpson. Give redden and Jetta some time, will take them at least 6-8 more weeks to be fully effective, they're not Dangerfield types who are instantly going to make a team better.

I didn't want us to take him based on watching him in Sydney. I do feel sorry for him as a person now given the circumstances. He has class but it doesn't fit into our game yet. Its probably him as well as the team not using him from what I see. His problems appear to be above the shoulder - I hope the coaches are able to bring out his best.

Watched the game again. I think people are being way over the top re his game. In the first quarter and a bit where we had a lot of the ball but fluffed the forward movements thanks to basic skills in nearly all of them Jetta can be seen making great position running hard on the peripheral as an option just as someone misses a handball, bombs to a 2 on 1 instead of looking sideways etc. I definitely think he wasn't going as hard in the second half but I thought he was positioning well when we were going. Perhaps drops his bundle a bit too soon after not being rewarded with the hard running.

He just isn't getting the ball enough. He has been pretty effective when he has had the ball in hand.

We would be able to carry him through this learning process a lot better if our other mids weren't largely out of touch too.

I wanted him dropped at the start of the week. Mainly so he can get his head around where to run to to be a chance at receiving the ball but on reflection there is little chance he can get to understand the system better at EP because EP are farking rubbish and don't seem to implement/reflect what we do at AFL level as far as I can tell.

He'll come good. We just need to make sure we keep winning enough games until he finds his feet.

But as I wrote above was in some very good positions after running hard to get the footy but basic skill errors that are unforgivable meant that he wouldn't get this possies.
His skills when he gets the ball are great. But I hope (am sure they are) aware of the effort he put in only to have u9's skills cough up any chance of him finishing.

I think he drops his bundle after the other team gets on top too quick and that needs to be addressed.

I think a lot of our players are in the exact same boat, but Jetta makes it much more outwardly obvious when he does.

He gets crucified for his body language (much like Hill) whereas other players are better at covering up their surrenders

It's a tough one as on form, he should be dropped but I am not sure that is going to help his confidence or his understanding of our game plan. The real issue is that it is hard to carry him through this slump when so many of the rest of our team are not performing and we are way too soft at the ball with the likes of Gaff, Masten, Le Cras, Jetta etc. I am not sure all can be carried across the center line. All that said, I am confident he will come good at some stage and be a valuable addition to the team.

I wonder if it was Simmo that requested a silky outside player with pace or through our recruitment department he was a home sick option/Sydney trade bait?

Either way. Downhill skiers don't belong in glorious wings. Paddy hasn't had his chance to wear them yet and that makes me sad panda.

I was about to say the same thing...

Any of you keyboard warriors ever started a new job?

It is generally accepted than any new employee take 12 months to become a productive team member. By the time they learn the systems and process, then learn how to apply these in real world scenarios it takes time. Then there is to fit into the team and culture of the organisation

How would it be any different for a new player to join a new team?

New Team mates to get know him, personally & professionally
New club facilities
Different routines & requirements - both pre and post game
New training systems
New game plan
New coaching styles to get used to
New player expectations

You could go on and on...

Give the guy a break. And if any one says that race is a factor, is a complete campaigner and needs to GTFO

Callum Sinclair, who you'd think is on far less than the rumoured 600k Jetta is, doesn't seem to be having such problems slotting in at the Swans and he's no Dean Cox. Then again, it's undeniable what he possesses over Jetta in spades. :sparklingheart:

Needs to take a leaf out of Josh Hill's book and fast.

I know he mightn't learn the system at EP but Jetta does seem to be a confidence player. If he can go back to WAFL for a few weeks, remember what it's like to get the ball in his hands and carve it up with a 25 possession/3 goal game it'd do him a lot of good.

Which is?

Different type of player. Bit hard to compare the two. Sinclair's success would be measured by tap outs or contested marks, something that is pretty easy when you tower over the next guy, regardless if you are comfortable in your new surrounding or not

I dont think anyone hates jetta

Over reaction much?

People just hate the idea of an out of form player being guaranteed a spot regardless of piss poor performance.

Its good to see hes benn dropped and i think we are all looking forward to a successful return.

I agree with his dropping but I think a lot of the things either said or typed about Jetta have been pretty ordinary. I don't think everybody is looking forward to a successful return, which is sad.

I understand all of that, and if he were making mistakes because he's out of position or whatever, that's one thing. But it just doesn't seem like the effort has been there. Maybe it's because he's unsure about the system or whatever, but he wasn't running hard to get to open grass when the Eagles had the ball last week, and there were occasions when his man took an uncontested mark inside forward 50 because he was jogging. Lack of energy and poor aggressiveness to the ball aren't two of the issues that should happen at a new club; if anything, he should be going after it harder to make a positive impression.

I certainly haven't thrown in the towel on him as an Eagle by any means, but he needs to go to East Perth and show a more positive work rate and eagerness to win the ball.

I don't profess to know what's between Jetta's ears or how hard he is supposedly trying, but to fit your analogy... would you cut a new employee that same level of slack if they moped around like they weren't interested? Or if their performance was not even up to the standard of other new employees?

I definitely think the criticism of his effort so far is warranted.
