Toast Welcome to Collingwood - Taylor Adams

We have absolutely smashed this trade period.... just smashed other clubs out of the park. Equivalent to 3 top 10 picks (include Adams) on top of 3 first rounders last year. Wow we wow we

However not to forget we traded out some quality to get this Daisy, Wellers, Shaw are A graders or close to it so we needed to replenish and hopefully this draft with pick 6, and 10 we will do just that as well.
Well that last paragraph is a little misleading - Wellers and Shaw were both dissatisfied and wanted to leave, so yeah we did trade them out but instead of it being a forced fire sale on others terms we turned them into win deals on equal terms - that's what I call astute trading indeed!!:thumbsu:

Not sure if this is a dampener on the news, but Hine just said we're still interested in Armstrong.

Fantastic recruiting by our club.

To have pick 6,10, White and Adams is all we need really. It's like 3 first round picks.

But let's not forget Shaw and Thomas have departed...so we have paid a lot to get our picks.

But with such quality walking out, we have comfortably replaced them...and arguably have improved our list for next season.

Welcome Taylor. 9 contested possessions and 4 clearances a game at 19 is pretty bloody good! Another Collingwood six footer is born. :D

A fantastic trade period. Just need to make the right decisions next month!

This has (had) been the most epic thread I can remember. I try not to post when drunk or high on trade endorphins but ... now that it's over after, a million posts, 155 pages, a trip to Iceland, excursions into classic literature and hot chix pics, endless visits from rival fans and Dave's overwhelming anxiety, now that I might have to finally, get back to work & spend time with my family, can I just say (to quote the great Jeff Fenech) ... I LOVE YOUSE ALL!!!!!!!!

Congrats WW. Should be a great addition for you guys. Looking forward to Caddy v Adams in the years ahead ;)

Really, would rather hang onto it for FA next year and keeping guns that will develop in 2014.
PK is no certainty in my mind to add value to best 22 next year so not keen on spending up on him!

We've probably freed up 2 million after this trade period minus maybe 650k for Adams and White and a fair amount will be earmarked for wage increases next year (excluding Cloke, Pendlebury, Witts who have long contracts).

Hine seemingly rates Karnezis however or perhaps Armstrong unless that's just leverage. Maybe we just get what's left over at bargain basement price. But put it this way, I don't think Hine is just flying a kite now that the major trades are done.

We'll get some money free at the end of next year with Maxwell, Lynch, Clarke, Ball and some trade. We might still be able to front load some contracts next year to free our hand in 2014.

Seems the hold up was the Pies helping out with paying some of Shaw's salary in the first year.

Even in Iraq, they are happy.

Though I don't know if we should be so joyous. Just think of all those players that Carlton have landed this trade period after being re-assured by their supporters that everyone wants to go to them. :p

Did anyone hear the Traderadio interview with Gubby?

If there is such a thing as grevious verbal harm, Gubby delivered it to Barrett. Laughing in his face but I'd love to have heard some early Wallace trade nonsense where he said Shaw and our pick 27(31) was just enough to land Adams. Cockwank!

From which day? I might have a listen.

Can we bank salary cap cash?

You can spend 95 or 97.5% at a minimum (depending on the source, I think it's the latter) but not less.

However you can front load contracts so you get a big arsenal, say 8-10% spare at the start of a trading period so you can offer a bucket, so long as you end up spending 95/97% at the end of the trade period.
