If I may be so bold.

Cooper, get yourself every tape of Chad Warner…model your game on that

Not going to happen bro. Chad Warner was known for accumulating possessions in his draft year and was listed as a strength. They need to make him a full-time mid for Peel to see what he can do.

he's got super speed, he's got clean hands, a good disposal and can kick a goal. He seems to be just one of those that takes a couple of years to get up to size and speed, etc. like Mundy did. Then it's a future Rolls Royce. You can't train that speed, or teach those moves. Some have them, most other's don't. He has time. Particularly with our midfield as it is.

Tiz a bit of a weird one. I can't think of one thing he does not at or above AFL standard aside from just finding the pill. You have to think that can be fixed up a bit with experience in his role.

His role sucks at Peel. Have to rely on the mids disposing it at an elite level. Otherwise he has to get his own disposal.
Weird. Believe he will go well at AFL level with a better and cleaner movement off half back.

Someone mentioned his tank potentially being the issue.

Those half forwards can sometimes do more running than the mids.

End to end running is super important in getting the pill as a high hf too.

I haven't noticed it, but his cardio not being up to scratch makes a lot of sense.

Does cooper have the attributes to play off half back?

His bio mainly speaks to mid-forward roles but there's pace, agility and a decent kick that I think can transfer him back

Can look to replace Wagner in time?

I think so. Pace and very good skills. Walls said something along the lines in an interview today about him playing the small forward role.

It'll give him game time I guess, which is good, but is it where it maximises his strengths?

Club rates him

Hoping we get berry and we somehow find a spot to get 5-10 games into Cooper somewhere up the field

I don't think there is any chance of Simpson playing half back, we have an over supply of them already.

Do we? Our depth is Worner, who’s shown nothing at AFL level, and Aish who’s turning 30 next season.

If those two are our HBF depth it’s time to start looking at future options even if I think Aish is pretty decent depth for 2-3 more seasons. Not convinced by Worner.

I do think Draper has the athleticism to play that role but is he a good enough kick?

Btw I can’t say I’m a fan of moving Simpson to HBF. Needs more time.

Sometimes there are players that sit on a list for six years (Guthrie boys at Geelong) who just prepare like professional athletes and all of a sudden those days and weeks in an AFL environment just embed themselves and the player just takes off. I think Cooper might be a slow burn like that but worth it if we hang on, Sturt another example.

Cooper Simpson has been on our list one season…

Yeah but we are already playing 3 in Walker, Clark and Wagner, I consider Chapman as a hbf type as well.

I know but he looks a fair bit off it at the moment, was a fairly late pick and I think he might take some time. He is the sort of player that if he isn't demanding selection after 3 years you just cut your losses but I think if he is willing to hang around we should hang on as I think he might be a late bloomer.

Just my opinion.
