I would previously brace myself for a turnover (or a breakdown in possession chain) when he kicked, but based on last night, you want the ball in his hands delivering into F50!

Could turn into a real match winner, and still so much scope for development.

Extremely exciting.

Last week he didn't get much of the ball (thanks in part to him having to chop out in the ruck) but still had an impact - presence around the ball and seven tackles.

This week he didn't have any tackles but still had a good impact - presence around the ball, nice goal and lovely assist to Lewis.

Just shows that his game is still improving.

That wheel and flat kick from Nash to Lewis in the 4th, like a laser, was just glorious.

He has come leaps and bounds since start of last year. The inner-belief is spilling out of him for all to see. So exciting to see how he goes this year. He is a brute to match up on, and when we lose a ruck or back or forward, he can act as a solid utility.

Just such a handy player to have.

A great kick from Nash to Lewis for the first goal in the 3rd q.
Long and to his advantage.
The Nash can't kick group need to settle down.
The one in the last was even better

I'm not saying there's causation here, but there certainly is correlation:

Since Nash Started playing in the midfield:

P: 6 W: 5 D: 1 L: 0

For: 534
Agn: 392
136.2%

In the six rounds leading up to the change:

P: 6 W: 1 D: 1 L: 4
For: 424
Agn: 534
79.4%

Methinks he's having an effect.

What are the clearance numbers in those games

What are the clearance numbers in those games
Good question. The 6 lead up games where he didn't play:
Haw: 206 Opp: 223

The four games last year where he played:
Haw: 155 Opp: 137

Our last 6 games (including those four and the first two games this season where we seem to be conceding and sling shotting.)
Haw: 212 Opp: 225
Just this year's games:

Just the two games this season:
Haw: 57 Opp: 88

The Nash effect is about pressure more than clearances.
And not just pressure either - blocking and making space. There was one CB he attended against Port where I think he started on Boak (could have been someone else) and essentially just blocked Boak from getting anywhere near the ball by taking one or two steps left and right. He really helps create space and change the dynamics in there.

yeah his + Nuke's impact is definitely about forcing clearances to become scattered, go backwards or generally be contested as opposed to winning more of them
Those two are well capable of knocking opponents to ground and keep their feet. Whenever they do that we end up effectively outnumbering our opponents at stoppages.

Contrast that previously where we committed two players to a tackle and both went to ground or even the difference where when we tackle we go to ground with our opponent as opposed to when they tackle we go to ground but they keep their feet.

This video has lost its sound I think but you can see we go to ground but only two dees in the sequence.

1. Worpel gets the ball from the tap and is tackled to ground but his opponent keeps his feet and is immediately in the next contest for the ball and pressures Scully to ground.
2. Later Worpel wins the ball and is tackled to ground but his opponent keeps his feet and is able to pressure Sicily into a fumble.

In both cases it allowed them to exert additional pressure on us that made a direct difference to our ability to take the ball cleanly.

The good news is that with Nash and nuke we have turned the tables a lot on the opposition so we are getting the extra player on their feet more often.
