What a run of form, his last six weeks have been incredible.

31 touches (18 contested)
7 clearances
9 tackles

28 touches (15 contested)
7 clearances
1 goal
7 tackles

26 touches (9 contested)
3 tackles

26 touches (12 contested)
8 clearances
8 tackles

27 touches (9 contested)
4 tackles

30 touches (14 contested)
8 clearances
8 marks
8 tackles

But IMO most importantly he is able to create some space for our other midfielders.

If this continues watch other teams desperately trying to develop 195cm+ midfielders.

Hard to see even his most ardent fans believing he'd be able to turn out these kinds of performances, never mind people like me who had written him off halfway through 2021.
Exceptional. It is a testimony to his hard work and to his coaches who never gave up on him.

As a coach how do you counter a defensive mid who plays like a wrecking ball and not only completely disrupts his direct opponent's game but is now routinely getting as high possesion stats as any mid on the field?

If you're the Geelong coach you complain about physical bullying, imply that lives are in danger, and suggest to your douchey Old Xaverians mates at AFL House that a rule change is in order? Perhaps Irishmen should be banned from the centre square? New rule to be implemented within the week.

Remarkable form line.

Would be interesting to see up against his direct opponents stats (although its never that simple.)

got plenty of love from the commentators, too - mentioning he's pretty much the first Irish recruit to excel as a midfielder (tho obv. Stynes was a 'midfielder')
I don't think he is getting that much. Generally they mention Day and Newcombe first and then Worpel's return to form and then forget about Nash

Just watched the replay of sundays game again focusing on Nash, gee he does so many little things that puts his direct opponent off to help our other midfielder, then wins his own ball too. Gotta love the man!
Yes - that's why I gave him five votes in the Yabby. His stats (which are impressive enough) are only part of his contribution. He is also beginning to emerge as an on-field leader,

I remember back in the days of the taggers of yore Champion Data could break down how many minutes a player spent as another players direct opponent and their stats in those minutes vs the rest of the game. They might have done it for Finn last year even.

To think that a few years ago, a lot here wanted the Irish experiment to end!

Glad he's proven us wrong. Cudos to Mitchell for playing him in the midfield when he first took over, it is where he truly belongs.

I dont understand why, people think for success in AFL you need to follow the same old formula and then rinse and repeat. Which I believe is probably the exactly opposite direction to go in.

Kid is like the terminator.

No other mid in the comp takes a mark in which the defender (who's only intent was to spoil by pushing Nash off balance mid air) comes off second best.

And to pin point a kick to Macca's chest was seriously elite.

Someone needs to GIF it. Those little moments win games, and over the course of a year they start to win premierships.

Gave me Anthony Stevens trying to run through Carey and just bouncing off vibes

Add to that:
27 touches
5 tackles
4 inside 50s
10 score involvements

In his press conference after the game, Sammy mentioned that Conor had been the captain of every side he'd ever participated in until joining the AFL. You can definitely see it - he wants to influence games every way that he can. His physicality is one thing, but the amount of tap-ons, shepards and other one-percenters he delivers in games just shows the team-first attitude he has.

He is a physical freak in terms of height, speed and endurance, and he's only been in the midfield for a year. I reckon if there was an award for most punishing tackles like there was for GOTY or MOTY, he'd be the unbackable favourite.

And yes! - that mark and play on where he steamrolled the defender like Jonah Lomu in his prime was brutal poetry. Probably my favourite player in the team at the moment.

Over that period he's now averaging:

27.86 touches (inc 11.42 contested)
5.29 clearances
6.29 tackles
5.14 score involvements

Really the next step is upping his scoreboard impact, which he could hopefully do by taking smaller midfielders forward.

It would be a nice complete circle if he spent more time forward and created some havoc there

Told you so, some of us did believe.
