Fastest player on the ground last night, put in the most sprinting efforts and the most repeat sprinting efforts. Equal game high tackles and had an absolutely elite score involvement/possession ratio.

He'd have been a first round pick easily had he grown up with the sport.
Big kudos to whoever our talent spotter is/was in Ireland. Didn't have to wait for the AFL to try and find him and get him out of the AFL Europe combine.

A phenomenal athlete. Closest to buddy that I have seen.

Play him on Buddy this weekend. Instructions to harass, spoil, bump and run off him for for the whole game. Budwah will get frustrated much like he did when Spangher played on him. Could be fun to watch and a great learning experience for Nash. Could work with a bit of support from Brand and Stratton. Sydney do not have much else.

This from an article in The Age had me cracking up:

He's happy it has, because unlike in Irish sport, where players are banned from drinking alcohol all season, Hawthorn have a more calculated approach to booze.

"It is so different to back home when there is a fe----' drink ban for a whole season," Nash said. "They know that is a complete farce. It does not happen and it is never upheld.

"We [Hawthorn] have an alcohol game plan! It is to do with the number of days in between, whether it is a six, seven or eight-day break you can have so many drinks as outlined by that. If it is six days, you are probably only having one or two. If it's an eight-day break you can have a good go. The club organise this. They have events, we stick together and socialise together when we can."

I am not sure what his defensive game is like, but don’t mind the idea.
His secondary job is to tackle and bring Buddy to ground as often and as hard as (legally) possible everytime he gets near the ball.

Three RS nominations in a rows not going to keep us under the radar

Sorry Conor

Still disappointed we didnt get to keep Kilkenny and Glass

Interesting that Francis won it as he wasn't really a body of work choice, I thought Glass had a better game. Francis was largely Riewoldt's second opponent for most of the night as he was getting held out by Hurley.

Interestingly enough I have watched Box Hill on tv a couple of times and Nash's kicking for goal was "gun barrel" straight, so I was a bit surprised by his set shots last night. I have no doubt he will improve on that.
It looked like he was trying to guide the ball rather than kick through it (which never works) so I expect it was the associated nerves of his first AFL game that caused him problems. I expect he'll show more flair in his next game.
