I'd extend him now.
Not sure either parties would be keen

He would probably want to prove himself so he can up his $ value

We would probably want to see anything to suggest he is worth persisting with long term.

Reassess at the bye and hope we have a break out season unfolding and we can give him a big pay day. Win/win

Why is he playing in the backline again ??

He is not a defender and has shown that over and over

He is a forward …he’s played about 6 games forward either at Box hill or hawthorn and every single one of them have been good games

Sicily is a defender …Jeka is a defender …Grainger is a forward

If I can work that out as a nobody so should hawthorn
He's not a forwards a#$@sshole!
He goes goes back to defence or we cut our losses and move him on.

Pick 6 hasn't been kind to us - Dowler, Thorpe, Grainger-Barras

I just have a horrible dream that we traded DGB and he turned into a Sicily clone at another club. Cant bear the thought.

One more year will tell us a lot I feel and the poor trade pick we would attract is not worth it.

Players with reckless courage and dare are rare and we have one who just needs to find it more and prove his ability. Keep the faith for now.

I had friends who years ago, were ready to delist Sicily as well. They were done with him.

Here we are.

As much as DGB has had his struggles the silver lining is that the 2020 draft really is looking like an absolute stinker at the moment.

Ugle-Hagan looks like a player but after that it's slim pickings indeed.

Gulden is the pick of the crop and McCreery looks good too. But overall that draft class has been pretty poor so far. We can thank Covid for that.

Yes I forgot about Gulden, probably as he was an academy pick.

Yes definitely he is an absolute gun, amazing player.
When he was drafted few perceived him capable of being anything more than a slowish, short HFF with neat skills.
Amazing how some players can just explode into elite level performance, surprising almost everybody.

Hawks Insiders trade period chat just mentioned DGB was by himself a fair bit on PCM night, anyone know if something is up?
That's what they call making a very big mountain out of a very small molehill.

S Mitchell and Tyler were great speculative picks, we were always going to take Downie. DGB needs a huge preseason, he has some good attributes. For a backman he is a great kick, mark.

The club disagrees.

He’s training as a forward this summer, already back at the club doing running and weights, and will also be getting body position coaching from Derm on a part-time basis.
