A lot of people have been comparing Maginness to JK, but watching the game today I reckon LDU is the player most similar to Finn. Congrats on snagging a goal today and backing up w/ those left foot disposals.
He is more Will Langford than Jk. I know he clocked up the KM’s today but his disposal is of real concern for a potential ball mover. Will it improve with confidence, I hope so for him as he has the physical attributes to compete.

His two poor kicks were on his left. He had the courage to try them which is surprising, as not many players try to kick on their opposite side.

His power running was a highlight, he provided some options and even when he wasn't used he had drawn a man towards him which opened up some space. Similar to Hill's gut running. There were several moments where he was in the F50, and then moments later he was in the D50, and vise-versa.

His running power was incredible. I just want to keep him at this level as he is improving rapidly and I don’t think you want to drop a player with his potential while he is improving. Needs to play at the level.

One of them was super frustrating though as he was essentially on his right foot already and had time so it was weird to see him kick it on the left. I was very critical of him today and if Day comes in next week I feel he will have to be the first to make way (assuming McEvoy & Breust will be back)

I wonder if Sam told him a condition of playing was he had to kick some lefties. I reckon he will work through a lot of his skill issues in two years time, might take him a year to get use to his new pace to

I remember Downie hitting up a pass with his right, and then after the game mentioned that Sam would be happy about that (or something along those lines).

interesting, would make sense coming from him to push it in game, best way to develop it and when you suck at it you will probably work on it a bit more. In a couple years time we may be kicking on both sides

If he can’t get a game in the middle, I wonder if he could be used as a relentless pressure forward. His pace/size/endurance could be an asset

Finn has had his issues. Primarily initially where he couldnt get near it. However this year with a big pre season and the fact he is getting the ball and his running capacity i can see him play a lot more games. I watched him today and yes someone else mentioned it he ran his guts out opening holes in the opposition struture. He is actually getting the ball to make mistakes with. Given his rapid improvement from last year i want to see where this will go. Where is his ceiling.

He’s played 4 games over 3 years. He needs afl game time. His gut running in last quarter was top shelf - everyone else was struggling and he was surging up and down the ground. Lots of rough edges but he’s come a long way over the preseason. Similar to CJ reckon most of the disposal issues can be tidied up. Ceiling could be anything - not many guys can keep up with him and compete with his size. If his team mates start using him as he surges forward he could be a very handy player.

He's a work in progress but then so is the whole team at the moment. He's improving year on year despite multiple COVID effected seasons. As long as he continues to trend in the direction of improving on his flaws then I can live with the mistakes.

He was the pleasant surprise from yesterday. Did some things to suggest he could be a very good player down the track. His disposal will improve with more experience no doubt. Like Nash very versatile. That goal was huge.

I hope we get as many games as we can into him this year. I suspect as others come back in he will get squeezed out but a nice prospect indeed. Could end up an Embley type.

His disposal needs a ton of work but hope he does not get dropped.

That goal he kicked and the celebration, you could tell how badly he wanted it, just that little bit of confidence means so much.

He remind me of a salvos danger, throw the kitchen sink at fixing that disposal and we have a serious player.

Sorry but I don't see it with Finn.

Endurance can only get you so far.

Hope someone quotes this post in a few years making me look silly.

I am a bit the same way. Looks a footballer and has some elite physical attributes, but foot-skills aren't great and for a guy that has been in the system for a while, just doesn't come across as a very smart footballer... his reading of the game at tims is terrible. I don't think we can persist with Finn and Harry Morrison on the back flanks.

Do you have issue with Morrison's reading of the game or disposal?

Stop-gap until Day, Bramble and Impey are back. Morrison (who was great yesterday) will go back to wing, and Finn looks to be a pretty handy utility.

He was copping an absolute grilling on twitter at half-time, so I was glad to see him work himself into the game really well.

I actually think his reading of the game has greatly improved. You end up with a lot of the ball when you can read the play, and watching him closely from the stands, he worked hard and was able to pick apart openings in the game. I think his disposal is his biggest and most obvious weakness.

People have issues with Harry because he's not big, athletic or flashy. Does nothing to stand out.

What people don't get is he does nothing to stand out the opposite way either, barely put a foot wrong yesterday. Super reliable. Reckon he'd quietly be picked ahead of a fair few other best 22 players.

Morrison is suffering from a lack of Howe and Hartigan in the side. He is now lead whipping boy. It's an absolute joke how some are coming for him, suggesting he should be dropped off the back of his form last year and his game yesterday. Some players just aren't allowed to improve apparently - despite the fact that they very much are.
