He’s definitely improved over the last 4-5 weeks. Had a very solid first quarter. Still a way to go but a lot to like. I liked a few of the marks he took when attacked the ball.

Also did any else feel when a large number of goals were kicked (Lynch’s) Finn also seemed to right there in the contest?

I wonder if the problem is he has been too tense, and non-instinctive?

Perhaps as he relaxes in his role, his decisions and execution will become more natural and free flowing.

In his first few games, it seemed the pace of the game was more than his processing speed could cope with..a very noticeable improvement in his last three games

I am still quite young (24) but in my time I have never wanted a player to suceed more than Finn Maginness. The goal was special. He had a couple of 'really pleasing' kicks. And seeing him in AFL level really be present at stoppages and seeing him show his strengths (power in contest) was great, I hope watching video during the week he pumps himself up and really builds some confidence.

I am starting to believe he could make it to the point I was last night thinking they should have plonked him in the middle after half time and asked him to hunt his own ball. It appears on balance, he is given less leeway when he stuffs up and this is highlighted in here a little too much. But his team mates are making the same sort of errors with less criticism

Keep up the steady progression Finn. Decent overhead mark and is starting to kick flatter rather than loopy kicks that are increasing his DE
Finn did get some CBAs late in the game, but there wasn't much to them.

That's been my read of it. I think he struggled to find his place at Box Hill in 2021 and that negatively affected his confidence.

I think he has responded in the best possible way - by grinding it out and working hard. But whilst that is admirable, I think he is only starting to recover his confidence and relax a little.

His last two games have been magnificent. Hopefully he can keep this going, I still worry a little with ball in hand but maybe it was purely a confidence thing.
Agree- not a fluid kick like Scrimshaw but my stress levels are dropping with each passing game. That goal he kicked was great. I am really impressed by his work ethic and desire to keep improving. I think he will make it.

Yep, he's gone from these small, marginal progressions of improvement to taking big bites out of what looked like his limitations.

It's been bloody enjoyable watching Newcombe get better and better since he started, abd going to be bloody amazing if Finn keeps tracking upwards at this same pace as well.

I’ve noticed (from afar!) that’s Finn looks like a really intense kid. There’s something steely, determined and intense in his eyes. I equate that with putting a fair bit of pressure on himself. Hopefully he will start to ease into the game more and more.

In the meanwhile, Finn's opponent last week(Langdon) wreak havoc against the Saints ---

Langdon responded with a career-high 39 disposals, eight marks, six inside 50s and 566 metres gained to be one of the best players on the ground in Sunday's 38-point win over St Kilda.

With a player like Finn you just want to see steady improvement.

The guy is an absolute beast and he seems to take that athletic intensity to things that require finesse and skill. It's coming together for him I think. Bit by bit. He'll surprise a lot of people.

Has all the physical tools.

Decision making, composure, positioning should improve with experience (which Finn lacks even at the reserves level).

We've seen him have two of his best games in a row. Something to build on.

The choice to take that running shot at goal and get it would have been huge for his confidence. Not sure he would've done that at the start of the season, instead likely looking to give it off.

The most interesting things about Finn is how completely unknown his ceiling is.

He had the JPK comparisons but he's far more capable on the outside at this early stage in his career.

I'm not sure whether to anticipate an accumulating inside mid, a hard running defensive winger or a balanced midfielder capable of being the number 1 or number 4 guy. But that's what makes is pretty exciting.

Andrew Embley but with the ability to play a run with role.

As i mentioned a few weeks ago when he was struggling a bit i could see the potential. He is one that needs games. He is improving after each game.

Good call. I like what i see. Only going to get better. A massive unit with a huge tank.

Many are too quick to call curtains on a player with a handful of games under their belt.
