Some members of the forum will prefer to make their assessment of the JOM trade when there is sufficient evidence to do so. Some other members seem to think that they have infinite wisdom and want to be seen as internet news breakers.

I sincerely hope your sex life isn't as premature as your assessment of the success of the JOM trade.
Some members of the forum wear tin foil hats and think there is a conspiracy behind every announcement and a conspiracy when there isn't an announcement.

While others will stick their heads in the sand & treat every contrary opinion as a personal attack. Bigfooty team boards are famous for that kind of thing.

Anyone else remember how hard a small minority of vocal posters on this board defended John Barker back when he was coaching our forwardline, when it contained Franklin, Roughead & Rioli but resembled a dog's breakfast? Yeah. The club isn't always right, and supporting it doesn't demand blind faith despite some people here convincing themselves it does.

So yeah, the last thing JOM needs is another year out of football. I have no objection to them wrapping Cyril in cotton wool but O'Meara has to make it back onto the park in the second half of the year even though we won't be playing for anything. To sit out the rest of the year would be a disaster for his development having already missed two years, maybe they should think about giving him limited midfield time and longer or more frequent rests on the bench.

Some posters smell smoke and where there is smoke there is fire. Some preach vehemently that everything will be hunky-dory. Why exactly is this an issue in a discussion forum?

Runs away from thread, past O'Meara and into the distance….again.;)

Where is this talk of him not playing this year?

As i see the articles they are simply saying - not before the bye. No surprise with that, no need to rush him back when clearly with our injuries our season is shot, and it gives us the opportunity to blood someone like Cousins.

I agree it would be terrible for him and hawthorn if he misses the year, but I have only heard that he will miss until the bye.

Thread is about to be locked.

It's seriously going nowhere.

Nothing has changed.

Two groups just going around in circles.

Group A: Have faith that the club who has given you so much joy knows what it is doing.

Group B: He's not playing, therefore it's my right to be concerned.

Everyone has a valid point, but we're not getting anywhere.

Getting up tight because there's not a weekly update on how he is tracking is pointless. Hawthorn do not do this when they know the media is hanging on every word, and they never have.

He's not playing, we all wish he was, but he won't be for a while yet, so people need to deal with it.

Give me a break. Paranoia isn't an argument. It isn't an opinion. You are just stating a fear and dressing it up as a fact.

For example, A disaster (from a football point of view) is jom never playing again. No one on this board is going to argue that jom missing the year is a good thing but people will urge you to be patient and come to conclusions once facts are known.

Either the club is telling us the truth and jom has bone bruising or they are lying and he has something else wrong. For the record, bone bruising isn't always caused by impact. For example, It can be caused by twisting. 50% of sprained ankles have some level of bone bruising. It is entirely consistent with this type of injury to do to strength and conditioning work to rehabilitate the joint. What evidence do you have that this isn't what has happened? Let's face it, you have, at best, speculation. In and of itself, speculation isn't a problem. It's the giant leaps you make from there to get to a point where everything is a castrophe that people disagree with. All anyone on here is saying is that we don't know all the facts and we need to wait for a time in which we know more so we can make a reasonable judgment.

Some posters have suggested that they wouldn't mind seeing him rested for the year if need be. That's all!!!

Have we considered the possibility that he really does have bone bruising and that it really is taking a while to clear up, as bone bruising tends to?

After all there's no point in the club lying about it. The truth would inevitably come out and there'd be a media shitstorm regardless.

You would have to take it at face value. Until he is ruled out for the season..... I bloody hope not! ..... I will take a daily dose of Club media management.

Putting training blocks into players over the last couple of years isn't out of the ordinary when you look at the layoffs of Cyril & Hodge coming back from injury.
If he comes back & bangs out 30 posessions in a winning side we will all be singing the praises of the Hawks medico & conditioning team once again

Some people, when told the smoke they're smelling is just the toaster you used for your breakfast tip top and jam, insist on running around the house smelling the walls for fires ignited by the faulty wiring they read about on the internet somewhere.......
Two weeks later, you overdo the bread again (damn, gotta remember to move the dial back down to 4 instead of 5!) and now your friend insists you are just a misguided dude who is overlooking the obvious, that your home is about to be a funeral pyre.

While you can't disprove the faulty wiring angle as being a potential future problem short of ripping all the drywall off the walls, you'll never convince your naturally conspiracy bearing friend that his screeching from the balcony doesn't serve a purpose.

Ah well, the internet is home to us all I guess. ;)

Does anyone have any insight to the training program AR has got JOM on since arriving at the club.

JOMs a massive unit, I would have thought they'd trim him down like Lewis and co over the years.

Without a sniff of evidence, I would just assume being less top heavy has to help the knees and his recovery back to peak acceleration.

Top heavy? His quads are from small.

But wouldn't that be like sending Miranda Kerr to a plastic surgeon? Why do that why put a restrictor plate on a V8, why mess with perfection JOM is perfect........... right?

Now I start and hyperventilate and I don't why.

Cue the leave Brittany alone gift.

He needs to return this season and get some continuity for 2018, otherwise excuses for next season will just be about how he has only played 4 games in 3 seasons.
The only people saying he won't play this season are doomsayers in this thread. I dare say the club agrees, at this point at least, that it is best for jom to play games this season.
