No source, i just feel James is determined to make it at the Hawks.
He just needs to play to his strengths. Become that inside bull who distributes and not the outside player trying to lace out our forwards. Not his go. If he can start getting consistent like Sewelly did around the same stage of his career we will be forgetting his past couple of years.

If Worpel can feed Nuke, CMac x2, Day and Ward the ball 25 times a game I couldn't give a **** if he kicked a few helicopters.

I think the problem is that Worps doesn't have that instinct, he's been a kick first midfielder since his U18 level.

That Port game I referenced from early last year, he very much was a “hard ball get and distribute” player.

Will be interesting to see how he goes. He put on size to compete inside. More than ever he needs to be winning it at the coal face as we have a growing group of guys who can kick.
He put on size, but it seemed all chest/arms.

I'm sure it wasn't, but he looked cartoonish, and seemed to lose his balance on contact even more often.

limited weights, more cardio, different diet

i would guess it's mostly the last one than anything. a pro athlete can lift as many weights as they like but if they arent progressively overloading, getting enough protein and eating the right amount of kcal they aren't gonna put on much (or any) size

Serious question.

How do 23 year olds drop muscle?

I’d have thought it wasn’t very easy to do - unless you were in the serious body building category and already unfeasibly large
It is extremely difficult to do. Maintenance volume to retain muscle is much lower than the volume required to build it, so you almost have to stop weights completely to lose it. I would imagine his shoulder injury helped in that he wouldn't have been able to do anything at all for a while.

I'm still not sold it was the right thing to do.

Gonna really struggle for games on that showing.
If that was a home and away game…Worpel and scrimshaw…

At minimum he needs to be on the move at every stoppage and he can’t go to ground, if he can do those two things he will play, if not theirs some genuine concerns unfortunately

People need to lower their expectations on Worpel

He is a battler with poor foot skills, not a gun Peter Crimmins medalist as some think
This is the crux of the issue.

He had a “season from heaven” in 2019, and IMHO we can’t hope / expect him to get back to that level. He is simply not that good (consistently)

The last 3 years must surely have proven that, but so many here yearn for that season.

It’s highly unlikely to be repeated.
