Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Lloyd Meek

We're all arguing about our best ruck prospects going forward, it makes a very pleasant change from last year!

My two cents is that while Reeves has the potential to be the best tap ruck in the league, Meek's physical presence in the middle against Melbourne (especially when we got our run on in the 3rd) was a sight to behold. He and Nash were just a brick wall that pushed the ball forward.

He's holding his marks too. Very good last few weeks

His last 2-3 weeks have been very solid showing why 10 clubs were chasing him last draft period. Has Reeves covered for agility, playing up forward and now marks around the ground. Reeves far superior at centre bounces but he does ok and manages to be really competitive against the best in the comp

Worst disposal by foot in the league. (Literally)

He has a role to play as Reeves' understudy, but needs to start showing a lot more up forward, otherwise he is just warming the spot until Ramsden is ready, or Ned can play 85% TOG every week and we pinch hit with Nash.

Nash has found his role, and pinch-hitting in the ruck is no part of it.

Meek may have poor kicking efficiency but I think you're understating his influence. He works hard for a big man and we've been able to use him like a roundabout on transition because he always brings the ball to ground, and he's actually capable when it's down there, unlike Reeves.

Ramsden is exciting but don't write off Meek too early, he is only just entering his prime and is already causing headaches for opposition.

I wonder what Simon Taylor’s kicking efficiency was, considering we found out Clarko put a ban on him kicking

Absolutely.

The Reeves/Meek combo worked hard against a ruckman who had the advantage against us in the past few games.

TBH I want Meek crashing into Lycett at every opportunity on Saturday. We've got an advantage and we should use it.

Not surprised to see Taranto, Worpel, Greenwood and Wines on that list. They'd have been four of the first picked if I was to guess who was on it.

Worst inferred reason for anything based on flawed statistics … (Literally)

Meek has been in our best players for 2 of the las 3 weeks. Literally.

The Brownlow medallist from 2 years ago has an overall lower disposal efficiency less than Meeks… and he is a midfielder... so on your metric Port should get rid of Oli Wines.

I like your stats as info, but leAve off the comments.… you would sack Worpel, Liam Henry, Pitto (who was recently given a huge contract), based on kicking efficiency.

Be clear, I highly rate kicking efficiency. But if my ruckman hacks out of a contest then it is better than not being involved.

Meek kicks the ball barely more than 3 times a game.

Weird thing to be concerned by.

Further to my last post - I reckon the main issue with Lloyd Meek is his unfortunate name.

He gets a lot of scrutiny. Why? Well, "Lloyd" doesn't scream MENSA, and "Meek", well, kinda speaks for itself.

Not everyone possesses a marketing moniker like Patrick Dangerfield or Steele Sidebottom. Their damn parents were obviously eyeing sponsorship dollars while the embryo was forming.

If he had the name Maximus Gigantor things would be very different.

Am rewatching the game and I reckon he deserves some credit.

Contested marks, tackles and pressure, and a goal.

He is an enormous unit and I reckon a couple of Brisbane players came off the ground sore as hell after bumping up against him. Mumford-level enforcer?

He's gotten better and better, like so many others this year. He and Kosi both have stepped it up the last few weeks.
