I'm pretty happy that my confidence in the kid playing was proved correct. Not only is he playing, he's one of the few we have on the field that look dangerous.

I've said it a heap about draftees, you don't take a kid early if you intend to baby them until they put on size. Early picks should have the talent to play with the big boys regardless of how big they are.

I'm just excited to see what our backline looks like with Scrimshaw back in, Day playing good footy and Impey offering speed by foot. Along with Sicily we should be back with some of the best ball use off half back in the AFL.

I wan't too surprised he could compete at this level despite being a pretty small, i was surprised at how much he is willing to throw his body around.

He is tough and that is by far the most exciting part. His kicking and footy IQ is everything we already knew he had and i know we always try to push these half backs in to other roles (Scrimshaw and Burton) but this kid is one that can definitely do it.

I have heard some compare him to Whit but i think he can be more inside than Whitfield is going forward.

As soon as Kemp slipped as far as he did, and both Richmond and Port were fighting to get a pick to take Day, I knew there must have been something we didn't know.

Just going by this one-line player report saying he was in defence. I honestly can't recall that game outside of the Fitzy goal haha

Agree about instinct Day has always read the play very well and known where to run. I recall a recruiter around draft time saying he looks like he’s 15 but plays like he’s 25

What a fantastic start he's made. Some players never really can adjust to the speed of AFL football, Day appears to be ahead of it from his first touch.

Fantastic decision maker, poise, hardness.. took a great contested mark too. Is pretty tall as well, basically same height as Stratton.

He's already good. He could be anything.

A touch unlucky not to get the Rising Star nomination this week. Had more disposals and impact that Anderson did, but I suppose Anderson gets it on his 7 games to date. Definitely not far away though

I have always admired Simpson an absolute pro. If Day trains and applies himself in the same way consistently over a long period of time ..... he will be a champ!
