Was a very good player for a very long time was no undies Mundy.Definitely correct on both counts, Weddle a big upgrade athletically.
Mundy had a huge tank (and leap early on) though.
We were keen on getting Mundy to the Hawks for a long time from memory.
Lol plenty on here that sprout a player is not good at game 5 or 6 so why not the other way. He will be a starHe clearly has strong character. His first quarter was diabolical. improved in 2nd then had a very good second half. Not many young guys (or even senior players) are that resilient.
He has a way to go (and don’t like elite player expectations being placed on guys with a handful of games - afl is a tough game) but a very promising start to his career
Absolutely. I'm not sure I've seen that dramatic a correction before, in the same game, from such an inexperienced player. Was pretty remarkable to watch. He clearly has strong character. Pick 1 is for hype players, not team playersLooking at his attributes, how he has taken to the level, the confidence and the positions he is playing (much harder than purely outside player), I just don't understand why he didn't go pick 1.
George Wardlaw goes alright, puts his head over the ball and is the very definition of explosive. We are going to have to a wait a few years to see about Cadman.Looking at his attributes, how he has taken to the level, the confidence and the positions he is playing (much harder than purely outside player), I just don't understand why he didn't go pick 1.
A few people scoffed when I suggested he has the highest potential upside on our list. Im confident on which way that argument is going to play outPeople talk about getting A grade talent into the Club. This guy will be A grade. He will be one of the best players in the game.
Way too measured. Get the hype goingWhenever a club does a trade like we did there's going to be future analysis.
So far things look good.
If people look back and assess Weddle as a top 10 pick then the trade looks terrific.
I think what has people puzzled is that Weddle is a hype player. He blitzed the time trials when he arrived and he has a rising star and mark of the round nomination after six games. That is way more than you would expect from a pick 18 team player. People are simply asking why he was not a hype player leading up to the draft. The usual answer and it may well be true is that he played as a KPD as a youngster but did not have the size to be a KPD in the AFL and was an unknown quantity as a mid.Pick 1 is for hype players, not team players
Tbf he was a hype-player for same draft casuals (). The elite traits were there to see in his champs gamesI think what has people puzzled is that Weddle is a hype player. Funny thing is, I reckon he could finish up playing as an attacking CHB despite standing at just 191cm. He seems very comfortable taking on players with a 10cm height advantage. He is already 92kg, has a decent leap and reads the flight of the ball better than most. The only current KPF who would have any prospect of keeping up with him is Jeremy Cameron and his type don't come along very often.
After Tsatas was picked, they asked him who to look out for in this draft crop. His response was "Josh Weddle"
Smart man.

I think you undersold his potential limiting him to just a 3rd tall defenderIt's taken me a while to stroll into here, 6 months to get over the fact he's in your colours, he was my boy last year and knew he was going to be an absolute star.
Athletic beast with really great defensive nouse, it's been great watching him up the ground.
