Welcome to St Kilda Alixzander Tauru.

I think watching Alix play is going to be so much fun. Looking forward to the helmets on game day and a conch blower joining the cheer squad!

Alix had an outstanding combine and has the leaping ability to become that elusive forward / backup ruck.

i think our training watchers will be thoroughly entertained.

Back to the future … fair to say I’ve already told my Viking that she needs to be ready for his debut 🙃

This guy has a bit of rockstar energy. If he can deliver on his talent he will be very marketable for himself and the club
He is literally a good rookie season away from being our most marketable 😂

This kid was being paraded around by adidas a few days before the draft doing autographs signings - when it looked like a chance he went pick 2.

Settle him in down back for the first few years mate.

Forwards take a beating and it would be nice to let him find the feet just needing to read the ball of a back shoulder
Agree with that.

I think long term with his ability I’d love to see how dangerous of a forward he could be.

Got some real deep self belief which is so hard to teach. Roo like levels if you ask me.

No coach is ever going to have to encourage the Viking to fly for his marks. He’s going to back himself in every time.

I think in five years time he will be at the top of all the pundits redrafts, as a pack marking, game breaking, tall forward.

Tauru on Sportsday 15/11 a few days prior to the draft.

I love how transparent he is, none of that media trained bullshit speak. Even when pressed about if he got any unusual questions from clubs in interviews. Straight away. “Oh yeah the Carlton Blues, asked me if I’d snitch on a team mate”, and the way he says it. Like “you ****in joking you muppets?”.

Love it. All aboard the Flying Viking Express, Bintang Barbie to win the rising star. I can feel it in my plummmmms.

Watching that, he is very similar to Sharman with his running angles to mark, most are coming from the side, using his leap to out mark as he floats across the pack.

Sharman was scouted after his first few games and team would block his running. He had to work out how he could get around that. Much has been done to develop Sharman both with his running angles and his fitness to outrun the blockers.

I reckon Tauru will get the same treatment and will take a bit to develop and get the tank up to where the opposition isn't hampering his run. The real difference is Sharman is more forward and Tauru is nominally a backman, it will be his defence tying up the forwards from jumping as he takes the intercept mark. Up forward may be different for him though.

I think Sharman seems to be a bit more predictable in his movement. Tauru seems like even he's making it up as he goes and seems a bit quicker and more nimble. If Tauru makes it he's got a skill set that could make him an absolutely outstanding player. I reckon he's barely scratched the surface so far.

Alix Tauru speaking recently on Talking Gippsland

Christ, footy media is not known for intelligence or insight, but that interviewer was excruciating. Like having to talk with one of you idiot relations at family get togethers.

"You've got a birthday coming up, what's the go with that??"

How these kids avoid laughing at these turnips is beyond me.

Agree very simmilar to Coops. Simmilar sticky mits and vert too. Would love two Coopers.

When they ask him about school, he says "I do unsquats so I don't have exams" - what is "unsquats"?

I realise that's probably the wrong word but that's what it sounds like.
It's the VCE VM (Vocational Major).

It's the old VCAL that has been redesigned... kids don't do exams & don't get an ATAR (uni entry score)

They also do a VET subject as part of their studies.

Thanks North M for being selfish
They were selfish…..or short-sighted. And then they panicked. It might end up ok for them as they have had that many high draft picks. And especially if LDU says adios. But that is a long way into the future.
