20 disposals at 75% efficiency, 7 score involvements and 6 tackles in only his third game.

Jeez I’m glad we drafted this kid. He is going to be an absolute jet.
I think he's a great example of what Harley Reid could become if Harley works hard enough...

How good must Marra smell?

It's cool reading back over the first 40 pages of this thread when Ryley was just starting out. The signs were promising from the beginning. I knew we had someone special early days but never did I expect ten years later he'd be a four time Brownlow Medallist, six time All Australian, Australian of the Year, and dual premiership captain with a couple of Norm Smith Medals to boot.
Wow, Riley running for President of the USA. If he wins this election, he'll be the first non-American citizen to be President of the USA. Is there anything the great man can't do?

I hope they took him aside after the game and told him if you have a shot from 40m , you take it - particularly after teasing us with that preseason vision of him nailing one on the run from 50m. I mean, that goes for anyone in the side, for that matter

Ryley is going so well I kinda feel like he needs to be told it's OK to take some risks. The long kick forward, take the shot on goal, bust through and run. He's understandably mostly going for the safe handball at the moment - and he has great vision for this - but I think he's good enough to take it on with a bit more risk, even if he is only 4 games in.

He has played well. Hasn't had his big rookie break out game yet, but it will come. I think he will get a couple of 30 possession games this year at least. Won't win the rising star sadly, as he isn't dumped on the half back line racking up cheap possessions which seems to be the common role of most nominees. Playing pure inside is much much harder. Give me someone who is showing they can do the hard stuff, over someone winning the award playing bruise free football.

He’s getting low 20s disposals with only 60-70% TOG (on the w/e only Darcy had less than his 64% TOG of the 22 non-sub/subbed players). If that increases over the season he’ll definitely have a 30 disposal game or two.

I feel like Macrae should be playing ahead of him tbh but I'm happy to get games into a kid if the coach doesn't believe we can win a flag.
It’s a strange one isn’t it. If we’re picking the best team to win each week, Macrae is definitely ahead of him in my book. Clearly the coaching staff are balancing the now with the future.

Very low TOG (64%) on the weekend and still racked up 23 touches. It’s strange because the club wouldn’t pick Macrae because of fitness but are comfortable playing Sanders & Darcy (55% TOG) which has to compromise the rest of our rotations.

I actually think Macrae will work into the season ok. Sanders' defensive ability means we can afford to leave Harmes out and I think we're backing the right horse in this race.

Hoping he can get 30 this weekend and grab three RS noms in a row for the Dogs
After all the pre-season hype what odds that we would have had two RS nominations by Round 4 and neither of them was Sanders?

It'd be a hoot if Clarke or Freijah or Bedendo came in and immediately smashed it to pick up aother RS nom before Sanders. I still think Sanders will be close to the best of the lot (if not him, then Darcy) but it's good to see some other young talent coming through at last.
