How did the two money hungry guys go last night. I see Welsh kicked a goal. But forgot it was on Foxtel and didnt switch over. Too busy laughing at Richmond and watching the Aussies.

Hudson was good, Welsh not so.... well at least IMO. Huddo will be huge for them this year and I still think Welsh will kick 50 goals. Terrible game to watch though in some pretty heavy conditions.

Hit the nail on the head there. Well at least for me anyways. Kinda like a Drummond thread without the annoying b!tching. Theyre no longer Crows players and unlike some of the others I dont wish them all the best, their attitudes suggest they can go to hell.

Hudson was fantastic actually, and thanks for asking.:thumbsu:

Welsh had a very quiet night. Was soundly beaten in poor conditions.

Ended up in the back lines.

Rocket had better be careful, he doesnt want an overpaid crybaby ;)

I thought Huddo was great too, certainly a lot better than the other ruckmen you've got.

I think Hudson played a reasonable game although we played Hale as the number one ruckman last night to give him some more game time in the ruck.

Welsh struggled a bit although Gibson is turning into a very good defender, conditions didn't suit him nor did the Bulldogs blazing away at goal from outside 50.

Huddo will always be good!

but I really don't give a rats ass what they do! They're tratiors they defected all over a little cash!

I'd rather be at a great club and be paid less than a shit one but get paid more!

I would actually like to see Hudson do well at the Bulldogs. I love the way he plays, and I can't blame the guy for wanting to go back to his family and home. We actually got something back in return for Hudson.

Welsh, on the other hand, did a dog-act by leaving after the trade period. I would like nothing more than to see someone run through him in round 1 (and hopefully not get reported).

These are probably my sentiments. I can understand Hudson going, kinda, but welsh is a dog.

im of the opposite opinion.

i think welsh was within his right to look elsewhere, he was an established player and didnt owe the crows anything more, he did all that was asked of him last year and couldnt get a contract to his liking.. the end of the day he has a family and is looking to his future for security and i dont believe the crows gave him an adequate or fair contract offer.

hudson on the other hand, he was plucked out of the football wilderness by the crows.. if it wasnt for the AFC he'd probably be getting paid peanuts out in the country somewhere. we gave him the start he needed when noone else showed any faith. we nurse him through a year on the sidelines with a knee injury, he becomes an established, well credentialed ruckman in the competition and decides to throw it all back in the AFCs face.

Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster. Initially I felt Huddo and Welsh were traitors for the way they treated the AFC but I guess the truth of the matter is that football is now a business rather than a community based team sport. You only have to look at how the AFC treated Ben Hart and Jason Torney to know that the club sees it as a business. With that perspective, I can't really see a problem with Huddo and Welshy leaving the AFC if they couldn't get a deal that suited them. You know that the AFC would trade any player if it could pick up somebody better, regardless of their service to the club. It's kind of sad but seems to be the way of footy nowadays. The club can't expect loyalty from its players if it isn't willing to show the same sort of loyalty to the players. Salary caps and limits on the numbers of players you can have on a list put paid to any ideas of the club behaving like a club and forces it to make business decisions. I have no doubt Ben Hart and Jason Torney would not have been sacked they way they were if there wasn't a limit on players on the list. But the AFC has to adapt to the rules of the AFL and I guess the players do too.

good post

Yep, very measured and rational post...... you wont last too long here !!!! ;)

Welcome to the board btw :thumbsu::thumbsu:

right or wrong, both players are gone now. time for us to get on without them.
agree

i don't blame welshy - he was kind of in a no win situation, but huddo can bite my left nut :thumbsu:

As disappointed as I was that we lost both the guys, both they AND the Club were looking after their own interests. To those that think it isn't a business, all I can say to you is .

As for the "loyalty" issue, this goes both ways. Both players showed a lack of "loyalty" by holding the Club to ransom and expecting Club policies to be changed for them. The Club cannot forever show loyalty when the bottom line is the bottom line. Ben Hart could have wanted to play for another 10 years and a "truly loyal" club would have let him. But a business - and make no mistake, this IS a business - needs to operate professionally and efficiently and "loyalties" are not always what's best for the Club. In the end, this is what really matters.

Good luck to both Huddo and Welshy... what's the point in wishing bad things for them?

I think it was a good move by the club. Welsh had off field issues and was injury prone - time to move him on.

Lets face it, for the next couple of years we are going to be developing young players so moving Hudson on effectively allows youngsters such as Maric, Griffen, Tippett, Moran maximum gametime. Keeping Hudson would restrict the development of our young ruckman and its not as though we will be vying for a premiership in the next 4 or so years. Hudson will be in retirement the next time we are a genuine chance at a flag. Hudson was a good ruckman, but not great. I'm sure if he was Shaun Rehn he would have been offered a longer contract.

My only gripe was again how easily we rolled over at the trade table. The picks we got for Mattner, Meesen and Hudson were pathetic.
