Weslsh and Hudson

Looking at the bulldogs last night .....they are certainly heavier than last year and IMO they looked slow and sluggish with there reflex's.

Now this may just be that they are a little behind in their PS campaign? ....I hope so because I have them in my top 4

Anyway I thought Hudson looked heavier and not as fit as with the Crows .......he was hardly getting of the ground at centre bounces and looked slow and sluggish on second efforts.

People have said the Crows are the fittest side in the AFL .....and that average" players play better at the Crows due to superior fitness ....is this true? ......will this impact on Hudson performance in particular this year?

I have the WB in my bottom 4

IMO they only run hard one way, they are soft and lazy with their defensive action, they have the worse talls in the comp

Good to see Hudson's Ruckwork has not changed. Lose the tap then get the ball off the first opposition midfielder who gets the ball.

Is this going to happen every week? Pretty tedious

Why on earth would you come on the Adelaide board and read this if it's so tedious???

Considering the Bullies practically r*ped the Crows with the purchase (if one can call it that) of said players, I am surprised there isn't MORE written about them from appropriately pissed off supporters who feel both players and the Bullies screwed us over royally.

Apart from that, and seriously now, both players were an integral part of our team, so of course there will be an interest in how they play each week. We'll get over it in about a year. :D

Looking forward to a weekly critique then:thumbsu:

Re: Welsh and Hudson

C'mon, don't try that. He was full-forward for the majority of his games with the Crows.

which as a leading option from the square, doesn't make him our 'key' forward. hentschel was always more of a focus. we always spread the load between guys like trent, kenny, pez, burton etc. Welsh was just more clinical with his chances.

I don't agree. He's pretty much averaged two goals a game through out his career, which I don't feel is good enough for someone who has been the primary forward option for most of his career.

to quote ronnie reagan: there you go again. as he is not THE primary option your whole argument is irrelevant.

C'mon - you are being ridiculous.

Unless you're solely discussing contested marking options, Henschel was NEVER more of a focus than Welsh. Henschel spent maybe twenty games being the SECOND option, yet alone the first. Welsh has been the primary focus inside 50 of our forward thrusts for the games he has played for the last five years. And the return was an inconsistent two goals a game.

I'm already over it. I come on the board every day and I find it tedious.

As disappointed as I was that we lost both the guys, both they AND the Club were looking after their own interests. To those that think it isn't a business, all I can say to you is .

As for the "loyalty" issue, this goes both ways. Both players showed a lack of "loyalty" by holding the Club to ransom and expecting Club policies to be changed for them. The Club cannot forever show loyalty when the bottom line is the bottom line. Ben Hart could have wanted to play for another 10 years and a "truly loyal" club would have let him. But a business - and make no mistake, this IS a business - needs to operate professionally and efficiently and "loyalties" are not always what's best for the Club. In the end, this is what really matters.

Good luck to both Huddo and Welshy... what's the point in wishing bad things for them?

spot on lets not waste all this energy about why they should've stayed or why they left its going to be an exciting year for us they are no longer crow players any more.

BTW:

exactly how many goals a game do you expect from a6'2 lead & mark forward?
2 goals a game, around the 45 - 50 goals per full season sounds pretty good to me from a medium forward.

who are all these other similar forwards, who do better? I just looked and i couldn't find too many?

given the perjorative, I'd expect at least 1/2 dozen better players of type minimum - but maybe if I hold the stats up to the light, and sprinkle with lemon juice I can find them.

Ps. as an example Micky O'loughlin - one of the better medium forwards of this type I've seen, averages 2 goals a game over his career!!!

Quote from afl.com.au

New recruit Scott Welsh, the man Eade hopes can spark his forward set-up, didn’t touch the ball in the first half. He ended with one kick but reportedly carried the flu into the match.

He only spent about 5 minutes on the ground. He wouldn't have played but our emergency got stung by a stingray.

It's sad to know that Welshy isnt in your starting 22 but he was our main goal kicker. Goes to show that our forward line was:thumbsdown: last year.

And when you think forward stars sich as when you think Essendon you would say Llyod or Lucas.. Freo you think Pav.. Collngwood you think Rocca.. WC you think Linch.. Melbourne you think Nietz and so on.. and when you think Crows:confused: Kenny??

Might even be Bunji or Goody this year?

Personally i wont miss Welsh, should have been traded 2 years ago when he was actually worth something (Not enough games to warrent his expenses). As a main go to forward for us only shows how bad Crows traded for forwards (Show me one good finals campaign that he has ever put in, just cant handle the big games), but Crows seemed to concentrate more on midfielders and defenders which is where our strength is.

Now its up to the youngsters to show what the Crows and NC see's in them, in the end i think we have the better end of the stick for the future.:)
