Re: Western Region Football League team

good good call beazer we start from scratch now although some would say that after last week spotty are a stand out finishing well on top and only dropping one game

even though there is a lot of work to be done you guys are favourites

I dont think there is a favourite to be honest. It will be tough to win it from 4th or 5th and will have to break records to do so. Sunshine are also good enough to beat the best but they will have to win 4 games in a row which will be a big ask. Im not sure that Albion can go too deep into the finals. B4 you jump on me and say how you beat this team and almost beat that team, its just my opinion. Most people think that it will come from the top 3 and I feel that us, Port and Hoppers are all equally as good a chance as each other.

Time will tell

Not sure if you blokes are serious.
Surely spooty ae firm fav for the flag with colts and hoppers fighting for the other finals berth.
Yes sunny and albion can beat the other sides as the season suggests but I cant see sunshine going down to albion and cant see sunshine go any further than that.
It will be a 3 horse race and I thin spotty and colts look likely finalists.
Before you say it I know finals are a different game and that is why I think the top 3 teams will rise even higher and the gap to 4th and 5th will be even greater. look at colts sunshine last year to undestand where an coming from.
Albion not secure yet.. If they go down this week to Yarra Stalbans are in..

Agree with the three horse race, but last year it was a two horse race and the underdogs got up.
Anything can happen in finals and it did last year.
Spotty hasn't had much experience in the last game of the year, they may have forgotten what it's like to be there. Hoppers and Colts have the knowledge and know-how to take it to the last game so it will be an interseting finals series.
My pick will be Spotty and Colts in the GF with Spotty winning in a Grand Final REPLAY the following week.

Re: Western Region Football League team

I heard some big rumours today that a few of the werribee V.F.L boys are looking to take there footy a little less seriously and come to some W.R.F.L clubs.
word on the street has it that

Wayde Twomey: looking to move back to Port Colts to play with his brother or to Hoppers Crossing to play with a few of his mates. Where ever he goes Doug Thomas said he will go to as well!

Would be some big pick ups for either club! would be paying out some big bucks for those boys i reckon.

any thoughts?

Knowing his dad and family if wade did decide to leave and play wrfl i would be shocked if it was not at colts and if they do want to we would try our best to get them at our club, especially as it looks as though his brother will be a captain of our club in the not to distant future and our current skipper knows about this so no need to start any crap about upsetting our current leader, who is in the best shape of his career

Re: Western Region Football League team

speculator i liked it more when u didnt speak rubbish! for a start ace wouldnt have said anything of the sort. we are happy to play whoever we come up against. as we have beaten or been competitive against every top side except spotty who we have this week. you seem to have ur fingers in quite a few pies, or maybe your just making things up as you go along. to say Hoppers are flying is interesting, good side no doubt, but a lot of guys who were playing reserves earlier in the year running around in the 1's. think if Bekker is injured or at Port you might struggle.

I rarely post young young fella and in this case posted only what I have been told by members of each club.

Each statemnent can be directly attributed to either a current member or in your case a past member of each of the clubs stated.

Sorry for any "truths" being posted but I only wrote what was told to me.

Re: Western Region Football League team

So as the year comes to a close lets talk about some of the issues that don't get brought up as much. How do we think all the coaches are doing this year?
Who do you reckon will get the boot, and who's safe? Does anyone have any info on new coaches or anything?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Not sure about Tocka, if he has been re-signed yet or not. but id imagine its not if, rather when because he has been great for the club the last 3 years. got us in to the finals when we hadnt for a very long time, and the group has largely remained the same over that period. Not sure about other coaches, have heard a few rumblings about Keogh at Yarraville but not sure how true they are.

Re: Western Region Football League team

What is everyones thoughts on next season, and who we want to come up from Division 2. It looks to be a race between Wests and Heights, with Albanvale and Nth Footscray being the other chances. Personally id say Albanvale, due only to ground and changerooms and the like. Couldnt handle Wests tiny ground or terrible facilities, and Heights ground is on the small side too. North Footscray seem to be a good club, who have built themselves up through there juniors...

No team will handle it in Divy 1======west would have the best chance to compete against the big boys, but that is even pushing it.=======how do u think parkside will go in Divy 2 though.====un heard of.

North Footscray have the best ground and facilities.
WRFL Club of the Year in 2005 and 2006 (will go close again this year).
Can struggle with junior numbers as do many clubs.

West would have the best juniors coming through as their suburb is a real growth area. They also have more money and hype.

You would think that Albanvale will get bigger....with estates such as Cairnlea etc their juniors can only improve.

West are hot favourites at this stage but we will see what happens. Sunshine Heights are very confident that they have the team to knock them off.

Heard a whisper that Brad Pierce has been linked to Optus Eagles.

They may loose a couple of players as well which would hurt. They have taken a big step in placing a lot of faith in the kids after feeding the money grabbers for years. I do hope they get back soon as Div 1 is not the same without a proud parks to compete with!

Is your computer too high tech for you 3 votes? You seem to have a bit of trouble finding the space bar.

As for Parkside in Div 2, its a shame bcos they have been so successful in div 1. The rules are the rules though and if the winner of div 2 want to come up, Parkside will go down. Have heard that a couple of their better players wont be there if they are in div 2 next year. Given Parksides performances this year, they would have to pick up a couple just to be near the top in div 2 I would have thought. Port were pretty close to getting the a#se a few years ago and have gone on to be the most successful team in the last decade so it can be done but it will be a hard thing for the club to rebuild starting from div 2 though.
