Toast What a year!

You guys played the Hawks and were one kick away from a Grand Final so I reckon the next 2 years are probably going to be pretty great. For meeeeee!

Congrats on a visually exciting year with great results.

Not a sound conclusion based on the Crows doing the same thing in 2012 and falling off the radar after that.

Don't assume we will be back in prelim again. Opportunity presented and did not take it.

It has been 7 years since we played in a prelim and 7 years for North. It is a long time.

That repeated would see us back in a prelim in 2021. That is is the sobering reality of tonight.

Our current list profile is totally different to that of 2007.

The premiership window is officially open from 2015 onward. We need to own that and live up to it.

Every club that surges up the ladder thinks it is the beginning of a dynasty or sustained success and it very rarey works out that way.

That is just the reality.

Jeez ... that is ridiculous. Most pundits are lauding Ports game & year. We were good enough to win the flag ... IF everything went our way. Missing the top-4 though made it nigh impossible IMO. We spent all our petrol tickets tonight. If we had won I reckon we would have got caned next week ... just my opinion, so dont shoot me down please.

Totally gutted, but so just so Proud of the boys, the club, and all the Port supporters. Give me a day or two & I will be dead excited for our next leg of the journey.
My thoughts exactly...we just rsn out of steam against a rested side after travelling to wa to beat another rested side.
The boys gave been amazing this yesr but therr is still a lot of room for improvement.
We cant be that inaccurate I would have been worried about our side meeting sydney with tonights shot at goal resulting in so many points.
We needed a buffer of goals to withstand the bad ump decisions. Just couldn't get there in the end but I tell you what we may have lost but we scared the bejesus out of most hawks fans who looked like stunned mullets in that las 10 mins of the match they werent as upbeat as they should hsve been on the train home.

Surges up the ladder? We were fifth last year and third this year.

Also, we're not "every club".

Exactly whilst nothing is guaranteed in football one thing is for sure we were easily the 3rd best team in the comp & have one of the most talented exciting lists that has a metric ton of improvement in majority of our best 22 (Kornes/Bobby/Schulz aside)

I don't buy this 'how'd that work out for the Crows in 2012' the lists can't be compared, their 2012 side was a lot like our 07 list squeezing one last shot out of numerous veterans whilst unearthing a number of quality youngsters.

Make no mistake we're only going to improve from here on in. We went from semi, to prelim & anything less than a GF appearance will be deemed a massive failure, add Ryder & a few other potential tall incoming trades & our list is in prime shape to contend for the next few years.

I'm proud! We were staring defeat in the face in that last quarter, but we fought back with every last ounce and almost stole it. The expressions on Hawthorn fans faces in the last quarter were priceless, believe me we gave them one hell of a fright!

2015 is already looking good.

Feels like a wasted opportunity. You never know when you'll get another chance.

Don't want to hear any of that one kick from a gf crap. I want to hear a steely resolve to improve and I'm sure that is what we will get from Hinkley and Boak.

I'm not worried about when we'll get another chance. Luck had nothing to do with us making a prelim this year. If we deserve a shot at a premiership next year, we'll get it.

We bucked the trend in even making the prelim. And we almost won it - away from home, without the 2 week break of our opponent.

Gutted, yes. But **** I'm proud to be a Port supporter.

this part couldnt be further from the truth. we ran all over them again tonight, just like we did against freo, we dominated the last 15 minutes with hard running aggressive footy, they couldnt keep up with us and were well and truly on the ropes. compared to hawthorn we were still fresh, up and about at the end they were just clinging on and hoping, we were primed ready for next week, we just didnt take our chances. it wasnt fitness, it wasnt tiredness.

I am shattered but so proud. Being at the game was an amazing experience, but I feel two things made the difference. Umpiring and our inability to hit the scoreboard when we were dominant. Oh well, 22-0 next season though.....**** em alll!!!!!!

So it begins

I really couldn't see us beating Sydney anyway even if we had pulled that one out.

Our players will be hungrier than ever next year and we could have Paddy Ryder in our side. We won't make the same mistakes we did this year.
This.

After the semi-final against Geelong last year, Kenny knew he stuffed up. He and the club went out this year to rectify this and he did. We feel just short of a grand final.

I think after that, there's no doubt that Ken and the boys will learn from this and not make the same mistakes. We now have experience in the big games. We now know what it takes to get where we want to be.

That hunger will carry through next season and we'll give it another red hot crack.

going straight out and signing Ryder would be a top start this preseason. :D

Sorry for the Intrusion, would just like to congratulate your mob on an amazing year ! I don't like many other teams besides my own but when ever i watch port i find myself cheering them on almost as much as i do my Blues. You just can't help but like The way every one on and off the field goes about it. I can only hope/dream that Carlton can achieve the sort of culture that Port Adelaide has built over the last few years. Good luck next year, it's going to be a big one for you guys!

For a start, let's stop comparing ourselves to the hub of mediocrity and delusion that is the Adelaide Crows. What happened to them in 2012 bears absolutely no resemblance to where we stand as a football club at this moment.

Today was a gutting loss. Absolutely sickening. This playing group has given everything of themselves for two years now and deserve better than to fall so agonisingly short of playing off for the ultimate prize.

But we will be back and we will be better for the experience. It was 13 years ago that we lost to Hawthorn by 3 points in a semi final that we could've/should've/would've won. That was the first of numerous stumbling blocks on the road to the 2004 premiership. Sometimes in this business you've got to fail a few times before you can succeed. Today, like those games a decade ago and the Geelong final last year, serve as a lesson. It will steel the playing group further, light the flame of desire just that little bit more, and most importantly, make them realise what they need to do to take the next step.

I feel sick to the stomach right now, but at the same time I am so proud of this group of young men that represent us and our football club. There is not a team in the competition that will look forward to playing Port Adelaide in 2015.

Ken has been talking about gaining respect ever since he arrived at the club two years ago. Today, in defeat, we finally gained the respect that we have been craving. We may not have any silverware to show for it but the achievements of our 2013 and 2014 campaigns can be encapsulated by that one word - respect.

Right on, brother.

i have no doubt we are on the verge of an era, that started last year with a couple of finals appearances and should be sustained over the next few years, hopefully getting more than 1 premiership in the next 4-5 years. we have so much young talent, with proper targeted recruiting it should be pretty easy to maintain a high level of success over the next few years.

however i view this year as one that got away, just like 01,02 & 03 we were good enough to win the flag, 07 i dont think we were but we won the games and gave ourselves a crack at it, but this season more than any i feel we were more than capable of winning the flag but let it slip. this should burn in every coach and player and should drive them to be completely ruthless in taking the next step. there will be no mid season slumber next year.

Today, we are feeling frustrated...it was so close.

Today, we are feeling a little angry...if only.

Today, we are feeling unsatisified...we measure our success in premierships.

Today, we are feeling shattered...it was so close.

We have a right to those feelings, but those feelings are for tomorrow.

Today is the day to say thank you.

Thank you to a group that has brought us from shame to pride, in such a brief period of time. Thank you to a group who works harder than many of us can imagine. Thank you to a group who is, for the most part, still young in learning their craft (and not just players, but coaches, presidents and others). And thank you, not just to those who were at the MCG, but to all who contributed.

Today is the day we ask, can we look at the Creed with pride? Today is the day we ask would Fos Williams be proud? Would Russell Ebert? Or John Cahill or Harold Oliver or Bob Quinn?

Today the answer is YES.

Fantastic year folks! Disappointing not to be meeting you next week as I believe Sydney and port are the two best sides in the comp and it would have made for a cracking grand final. Love what you've done with the portress and with "tear us apart". Look forward to some top shelf clashes between you and us over the coming years :)

P.S. Hope you're all cheering for Kenny's cousin Gaz next week :)
