Clearly hasn’t stayed there.

Not sure if i am missing something but how is this not a thread?

Response from the club in this article: https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/b...ws-story/6267227f9f179f314fa36b7c7a7d5e36?amp

No factor says the club? Are they robots? If multiple relationships have ended that’s massive.

This explains so much to me. We are not too old. We have these patches of normal form then just drop off so badly.

Of course it doesn’t explain everything- hippy’s concrete hands might just be a thing - but from what i have read in the media and heard unofficially this is a debacle.

Have at it.

Very happy I work with computers more so than human beings 😂

Who would be a coach!

Suspect you're right and there is still an overhang from these "events".

That said, the Melbourne Football Club has basically been in turmoil for 3+ years, yet they've won a flag in that time (both their men and women) and are still winning now, including tonight, after yet another troublesome week.

So while it is very likely a reason, I certainly don't accept it as an excuse. Our players are all adults, all of them, and they need to resolve these issues accordingly, particularly those affecting relationships within the playing group itself.

Yes, many of the guys affected are still very young, still in their early-mid 20s. Heck, I remember the way I dealt with various situations in my personal life back then and how I would have liked my time again. But life is the worst teacher; it gives you the exam first then teaches you the lesson after.

Hopefully our guys are able to learn the necessary lessons and experience growth as people as a result, particularly with respect to character and resilience, both of which have the potential to improve our on-field performance longer term.

As an aside, like Melbourne, and unlike Sydney today, I believe the club has erred by not being on the front foot about this. I stuff things up at work all the time, but I spot 90-95% of my stuff-ups before anyone else spots them. And trust me, having a "oh, FYI, I made a mess of XYZ but it's fixed now and here's how I fixed it" type of conversation is much more pleasant than "oi Grasshopper what the f*ck is wrong with XYZ?" So well done to Sydney on that score with regards to Sam Wicks.

As for Sydney, I am curious why Wicks was given time off when all parties are innocent and had done nothing wrong according to the club. And why his teammate was not given time off too.
A thorough club investigation found that those allegations were categorically false and that Wicks, nor his teammate, had done anything wrong.
While all parties were ultimately innocent, the bad blood – brought into the open on a night out involving a group of Sydney players - had threatened to fester in the changeroom.

Well I believe Rich was on that trip? He isn't working at the club anymore and considering his standing with the club as a champion, and is a club hall of famer in waiting, that is not a good sign of what could be to come.
I heard one rumuour he was let go for something pretty dodgy. No idea if true so won’t repeat claim. But seems very odd the timing of him going doesn’t it?

As others have said this doesn’t explain everything about our poor form. But i think it seems to be the main cause - they just seem so off as a group. Able to play really well for patches then just drop off totally. Perhaps as well that long half time break gets a few minds off the job and means our third quarters are horrid?

If, and it’s and if, we beat north, we would still be no chance to beat gws or melbourne away. Maybe we beat geelong at the gabba. So barring something dramatic we will be 1-6 or 2-5 before gold coat game. That is top 4 totally off the table. And at that point with what has happened in vegas, plus a group for the first time since 2018 not playing for top 4, our motivation could absolutely plummet. Crowds drop off, apathy sets in…

For all the gags about bottom 4, who knows, we might not be far off.

Making vague unsubstantiated accusations based on equally vague rumours, especially hinting at something involving dishonesty, against a loyal and decent guy like Richy is a new low for this board. Well done.

We all agreed to have random, disparate conversations about the issue across 10 different threads.

Whatever happened with his club role, Richy literally did a lap of honour the other night. Really shitty to throw his name in there without something specific.

Dan Rich didn’t go to Vegas according to news limited reports

Story of Rich continuing in an off-field role was late last year. Never saw anything over the pre-season of him involved with the club so could have been at any point in the last 4 months that he left. Looks like any possible thing is going to be looked into and interpreted as a negative about the club.

Still here in Jan
