 Is being middle aged a bad thing?
Not at all. I am more than middle aged. Just cannot hear Dermie use the word "I" 10 times every 60 words. Prefer other commentators. That is my point I guess. Not well made in such a short sentence. Also I don't believe he and Lyon are good commentators tbh.

I don't disagree.

So who are your 3 best TV and 3 best radio commentators?

Ditto your 3 best TV and 3 best radio expert comments guys?
I like Gerard Whiteley as a commentator. He knows his stuff. I am more of an ABC man. I enjoy Tim Lane. I used to love Rex Hunt for his antics and use of Aussie English. Colourful. Do not like his politics, but that is another matter. Rohan Connelly is also good. but again very abc, Fairfax orientated. I also like Keli Underwood. Very professional and knows her stuff. also it is good to hear a woman commentate. changes the whole aspect of the game being commentated. it took me a while to get used to her. I also like listening to the footy on the radio. not sure why? channel 7 commentators are not my cup of tea.
In terms of expert commentary I just think that AFL commentary is really poor. AFL is very tactical, but I find that most afl commentators do not capture the tactical aspect of the game. I am of the English football school (of commentating). Not telling me what is happening on the game, because I can see it. I like the commentators explaining how coaches approach the game. why they make a specific change to the game. I just don't see that level of quality in afl commentary.

“My motivation is always the same. I am as driven and as motivated as anyone you will ever meet, whether what happened to me happened to me or not I would be the exact same,” Treloar said.
“If you are wondering if it is because of everything that happened with Collingwood, it’s not. It’s no different to what it would normally be. It’s just at a new club, a new motivation at a new club, I’m driven and hanging for the season to start.
“A massive drawcard [in joining the Bulldogs] was because I genuinely believe the group of guys here can be a part of really good success and win a premiership because that is what I want to do.”

Bont is fourth favourite for the Brownlow for the fourth year in a row. Imagine if he wore number four.

Ross Lyon was fantastic for this when he first started off in commentary. While most commentators appeal to the lowest common denominator, Lyon actually discussed what was happening in terms of structure and tactics. Unfortunately, he's been getting less and less airtime, to the point that I'm not even sure who employs him these days.

That is right. I actually liked Ross Lyon. You actually learnt something. It is as if stupidity has to be talked about all the time to be entertainment.

McGuire and Brayshaw and their egos are easily the worst to listen to- I think we can all agree on that.
No fan of either but the worst for mine is Dwayne Russell. That blokes ability to overhype the utterly banal and to focus on a minor detail nonstop is off the charts. He's the one that forces me to mute the sound.

He also seems to shout the whole time. ITS CRAZY ANNOYING.

Last night on Footy Classifieds they said we turned down 2 first round picks for Dunkley and that was a big mistake. They didn’t think Dunkley would be worth that next year. Even though they also said he would be Bombers best midfielder....

Our asking price was 2 first round picks, but the Bombers never offered that. They offered a single first and change.

Love the Bombers fans revisionism that is constantly required to make themselves feel OK about the club.

I've listened to two podcasts in the past week that said we should've taken a first for Dunkley but didn't acknowledge it would just be used on Jamarra. One even said we should've done the Dons/Pies deal involving Dunks and Treloar. Did they not see what we eventually paid for Treloar? It's not even a benefit of hindsight thing, it's just stupidity.

This is what constantly kills me about the commentary around the whole situation. The amount of times this has constantly been ignored by people talking about it, whether it's on BF or in the media is just insane.
The same argument has been rehashed about 700 times on the drafts and trading board because some Essendon nuffie comes in talking about how "he's not even a starting midfielder in your team, what we offered was fair" when what they offered would have been taken away from us anyway. I don't know if it's blind ignorance or just stupidity anymore.

It was infuriating. "They rejected two top 10 picks!!" narrative is bullsh1t, but one which can spread quickly among idiots who don't know any better. Would have loved for someone to have set them both straight, right there and then.

And they made it sound as if there's no way Dunkley will never be worth more than we were offered last year. Every chance that in 6 months time, one party in that trade stand-off may have egg on their face for losing out on a player of Dunkley's quality for the sake of refusing to increase a second rounder to a first rounder.

Dodoro himself admitted at the time that he wouldn't have accepted the Bummer offer if he were in Power's position. That little nugget gets forgotten by those who prefer another narrative.

I’m sure footy classified has a social media presence. Let’s all go on there and remind them, with a link to the comments by their own list manager saying they wouldn't have accepted the offer. If these things don’t get called out, misinformation grows.
