Willy Wally - perfect! Congratulations and condolences to Mitch, Emily and their families.
I’m okay with Caleb getting the bulk of the JJ slot but the length of contract scares me. Hopefully 3 years is enough to get it done.Yes I agree, here's a quote from an article in 2017 when JJ signed a 5 year deal:
"...It's understood the deal, tying him to the club until the end of 2022, is worth more than $650,000 a season.
Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said Johannisen, the 2016 Norm Smith medallist, remained a crucial cog."
So JJ is out of contract at the end of this year and you would expect him to resign on a 1 or 2 year contract at a much lesser amount with incentives.
You'd think that Sam Power would transfer that contract amount to someone like C. Daniel - he's worth every cent and has become a weapon across half back. He's unique, the league hasn't seen a player like Daniel for at least 30 years.
Here's a summary of all the Bulldogs players contracts and when they come out of contract. It's a pretty handy reference point.

Frydenberg at WO today announcing more funding. Think it was more for programs than the redevelpment. I heard it on the radio (link below), but there's nothing on our website or in paper that I can see.
Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg (26.4.22)
The Western Bulldogs have today welcomed the Federal Government’s budget commitment of $15 million to enable the Club to deliver its full vision for the redevelopment of its Victoria University Whitten Oval home.
The Federal commitment will not only contribute to extending a new Western Bulldogs Community Foundation Centre, but will also help establish a Women’s Health and Leadership Hub which will become a centre of excellence for the delivery of partnered programs for girls and women throughout western Victoria and beyond.
Both facilities will complement Stage 2 of the Club’s wider redevelopment project which commenced construction earlier this month.
Western Bulldogs President Kylie Watson-Wheeler thanked the Federal Government for supporting the Club’s vision to develop a home for the whole of the community.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Federal Government for their commitment to Melbourne’s west as part of last night’s budget announcement,” she said.
“Our vision, now and into the future, is for VU Whitten Oval to be a place for the community to call home, alleviating social isolation, enhancing connectivity and promoting health and wellbeing.”
Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains said the budget commitment was a strong endorsement of the genuine impact the Club makes in the community.
“Our Whitten Oval precinct redevelopment is one of the more ambitious undertakings by an AFL club, and we’re extremely appreciative of the Federal Government for their support of our community ambitions,” he said.
“This important investment ensures we can deliver on the full potential of the precinct, helping bring people together to access social programs and services which can have a real and meaningful impact on the lives of people living in our backyard and beyond.
“As one of the AFLW’s inaugural clubs with such strong female representation across every layer of our business, including at Board level, we’re excited to be investing further into developing programs which break down barriers of disadvantage, and creating pathways into education and increased participation.
The Federal Government’s $15 million commitment into the project brings the full cost of Stage 2 works to $73.9m and complements existing support from the Club, the AFL and the Victorian Government.
The investment will help create an extended permanent home for the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation within a redeveloped John Gent Stand to incorporate facilities and services which expand the Club and Foundation’s community reach, with a focus on health, education, cultural diversity and youth leadership programs.
Yep this is different to Stage 2B works (Whitten Stand redevelopment, broadcast lights, matchday pavilion, etc, etc) which has already been fully funded by the State Government and the club respectively. It was actually announced in late March but today was the photo op.

Given the lack of real policy development across the federal political spectrum for many years, I doubt any of them know what "goals" are!Hopefully some of that federal funding can go towards a goal kicking coach.
Calling it "news" is a bit of a stretch. As OG post points out it was announced a month ago and was part of the election budget. So it's guaranteed funding. They're just "walking" it now for the media coverage during the election campaign.Pretty exciting news that. Club needs it.
Lloyd has it spot on. We have lost the contested ball count in 5 of the 6 games. Either we’ve changed game plan sacrificing mid field dominance to strengthen elsewhere (which is certainly not working) or other teams have all worked out how to beat our system.
Kane and Caro‘s hyperbole is focused on stuff that are symptoms, if they are relevant at all.

Well if it is not negation or a failed change in game plane then the only things left are fitness and work rate. Take your pick.I think it’s more to do with the lack of output from our mids rather than game plan or other teams negation.
Our mids don’t look anywhere near as damaging as previously. That’s what I’ve seen anyways.

If I hear someone say 'Bulldogs' and 'Best midfield in the Comp' one more time I'm going to throw up!
For the last 6 games our much vaunted midfield has proved that they ain't even close to the best...
Would love them to prove me wrong

He aint that skilful at afl level.. he is important thoughIf JJ can continue the flash of form he's shown in F50 when he's back, and outperform others competing for that spot, he may become crucial again. He's ultimately a fast, skilful player, who can kick a goal.
No current season stats available
Inaccurate with them saying they could have traded Dunks for two first round draft picks. The price we set was two, Essendon wouldn’t pay it.Awful hearing Kane Cornes comment that the tragic events had 'no effect on the performance'. Awful hearing Caro set up the punch with 'It's awful what's happened BUT' and awful seeing those contested differential numbers
