He plays the game on his own terms. He also kicked 42 goals for the dons this year and they got rid of him for pick 53

Maybe the giants feel they have enough hard running small forwards that they can carry jake for his 40 goals - good luck to them.
Dons letting Stringer walk was the smartest thing they have done in a long time. Epitome of a front runner, if he isn’t playing North, Richmond or West Coast he isn’t worth it.

Even an out of sorts Stringer in late 2016 was still a better runner, fits into structures and team player than the last three years of Essendon Stringer.

And we were comparing an out of sorts late 2016 Stringer to the All-Australian quality player we saw immediately before, he might not have been an All-Australian player in the 2016 finals, but he was still a best-22 in a finals team quality player, his 3 goals 0 behinds from difficult shots in the semi vs. Hawthorn were critical and good performance for example.

Yep - precisely. We took a calculated gamble that Stringer's lack of professionalism would eventually catch up to him later in his career, and that he would help his teams win games less and less as time went on. That calculated gamble was correct.

There was about a 6 week spurt in 2021 that Stringer was a very good player, other than that, he's been woeful for Essendon. There's a reason Essendon have lost more games than they've won, with Stringer in the team, despite all the big club advantages. His output of statistics probably least represent his value to a team of any player, his lack of structural running and support of teammates (the anti-Vandermeer) and selective use of effort hand back a few goals that he's managed to kick himself.
