Damn near started a civil war in my north-western suburbs primary school.

It’s funny that it was “only” in 2000, but feels like it was near ancient times.

I was living in Perth, it wasn’t on TV but I remember listening to the game on the RADIO :$

Hi all

NewCorp has expressed concern about whole articles (or close to) being cut and pasted onto this site. News claims it breaches their copyright. Posters here are the publisher of each of their posts, so you might be liable for any breach of copyright where you have copied material from another source.

If referring to material from a source outside of this website, the accepted rule on BigFooty is that users may quote one or two paragraphs only and include a link to the full article.

Mods are being asked to remind posters of this requirement:

5. No illegal content; respect copyright owners
  • Articles from other sites should be limited to a relevant paragraph or two and a link to the source.
Please follow the above site rules so that the Mods don't need to be involved in your posting.

Take care and Go Bullies!

Further to the above post, here is the request that site management has made to Moderators:

Warn Users

There is a new Warning to apply to posts which you believe to contain infringing material - mainly full copies of news articles:

Possible copyright material.

The user will get this message with the Warning:

=============

This post looks like it may contain re-published material from another source:

{url}

You are the publisher of your posts, so copyright holders are within their rights to request the removal of their material, and to take action against you for breach of copyright if you do not.

Please remove any posts which contain, for instance, full articles from news organisations or material which might otherwise breach the copyright of a third party.

You may of course retain small portions of material which you are directly commenting on, and link to the source - just edit the post and take out the excess material, and link to the source if you have not already.

Posting or failing to remove such material could be against our terms of service:

Terms and rules

You must agree to these terms and rules before using the site.

Particularly:

You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which:

risks copyright infringement,

The Big Interest Group Terms of Service include this clause:

Terms Of Service | Big Interest Group

15. Copyright and trade mark policies

15.1 It is Big Interest Group’s policy to respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable international intellectual property law (including, in the United States, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and to terminating the accounts of repeat infringers.

So please remember, when using material that may be the copyright of another party, you must:

  • Use only that portion you are directly commenting on. A reasonable guide might be a paragraph or two.
  • Always link to the source.

Thank you for your attention on this matter. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Whilst I understand the rules and why they may want to enforce them, they also steal content from places like reddit and create articles without crediting the original poster.

So is it cool to follow the new rules, but also cool to say that news corp can eat a bag of Dickson’s?

What do you want me to say to that? It's not up to me to enforce copyright breaches by News Corp. The irony of the situation you describe is, however, duly noted :tongueout:.

What are standouts that should be celebrated in our 100 year history next season, For me it is

1954 Flag win over the dees
1989 Fightback from the dead with the proposed merger Lions
2016 Flag win over the swans

So, the games we should celebrate are home games against the dees (54), Lions (89) and the swans (16). Hopefully we are drawn home games against these teams and the club makes a focus on these games.

Yes, agree they would be the standouts.
Not in the same league but highlights for other clubs could be

GWS - 2016 PF
Port - Granty rejecting their bribe after being sent the legendary 20c [92?]
Dons - the 20 goals in a row or the flood game to smash their unbeaten record [2000?]
Saints - Kel 15:9's record breaker
Pies - Graeme Allen's pass to Beasley
Melb - Bonti's goal of the century

Are you actually telling me that news corp contacted the mods on BF to make a complaint about their shit-tier articles being copied onto the site?

Legacy media can't die quick enough.

Interesting, isn't it?

I'd have thought they would view it as a bit of a trade-off, yeah a whole bunch of people get to read a small smattering of their paid-for content for free, but you might use it as a chance to get some people to actually subscribe if you can see there's a decent sample of well-written articles that would make a subscription worthwhile.

With the quality of the majority of the articles though, I guess the "well-written" part dictates they don't get too many subscribers from it.

I got an introductory offer for Code Sports, $5 a month for 12 months. Once it goes to $8 a month after the 12 months I highly doubt I'll be continuing the subscription.

From many reports News Corp, doesn’t make a profit, it explains why that propaganda rag the HeraldSun is given away free at my local IGA and is free at McDonalds along with the rubbish masquerading as food there.

I'd be more tempted to eat the newspaper and read the food packaging.
