I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

I think I’d trade the future 1st if we were also getting a future 1st back + McKercher, I wouldn’t do it for Curtin or Duursma.

I’d be willing to trade multiple 2nds and a third for Curtin or Duursma at 4 though.

I know it’s said every year, but next years draft looks good at the top end.

I was laughed off the GCS board about a month ago when I suggested pick 4 (6) for our F1. They reckon they should get 19 as well! I think 3 way trade involving Adelaide getting our F1 (for Draper next year), us getting McKercher (if available) and GCS getting a heap of points for this and next year’s draft might be mutually appealing.

They wouldn't trade pick 4 for pick 1/2 in next year's draft?

Curious who you think is top 15 and who the jury is still out on? Maric has well exceeded my expectations. Culley I'm worried about.

Culley to me either has to make it as a mid or won't make it at AFL level. So the jury is very much out. He's way too slow and will get burnt on a HFF and I don't think he's athletic enough to make a third marking target in the F50 even though he's a very good size.

Maric I think is going to be a very, very good player. Plays taller than he is, is tough at the ball even though he is a bit of a weed, reads the play very well, is good below his knees and has great field kicking. Can he build his body to be a key forward i'm not sure. But as a third marking forward he could do very well or he could even be an elite third tall defender.

Also his height and weight on the eagles website is wrong. His height might be close to 196 but there is no way in hell he's 93kg's.

That’s the point I was making. If it’s Curtin or McKercher that is going to slide then we have to decide if we offer our F1 to GCS. Watson is a hard no coming from us. Comes across as an arrogant, unprofessional little s**t who would probably cry if tackled too hard by Yeoy in match simulation. He can’t “refuse” to go anywhere. You sign up for the draft, you go where you’re picked and I have confidence (however misplaced) that the AFL would ensure that any kid threatening to sit out 2 years NEVER plays AFL footy. It would immediately destroy the integrity of the draft system, which has already been severely damaged by mummy’s boy JHF. I actually hope they are discussing increasing the first contract from 2 to 3 years with a CLUB option for 4 years. Time to stop these manipulative little s**ts and player managers dead in their tracks.
I would be happy with Curtin mckercher or duursma with pick 4. I rate duusma and feel like he could well be a star in 5 yrs

Some people are going to be disappointed next year when we have another season like the one we have just had.

We have a long grind ahead of us to improve to get off the bottom of the ladder.
If we didn't win a game but had a % in the 80-90 range I think we would all accept that's a step forward. No 100 point losses is the box that needs to be ticked. No 10goals quarters against. Avoiding run ons.

I wouldn't accept going from 3 wins to being winless.

Agree to increase the percentage but going winless would be disastrous.

he used to be pretty fat didn't he? if so packing on some muscle probably won't be an issue.

Maric may be a weed, but every time I see him I notice he has strong glutes and hips. Something about his frame says he will develop some real power with more size. But this field is riddled with unceratinty. Strong and wirey is also very compelling. Sadly for Culley nobody can effectively develop speed.

Would north be interested in the ruckman Read? That would well **** GC because you know that the other big guy (name leaves me?) is a likely early bud also. North need talls, Read looks to have the goods.

The ramifications on the Curtin selection could be significant. He may well drop to Freo’s ex-first. If we could get that from Melbourne it would be delicious

What are your thoughts on Hardeman? We seem to be linked to him consistently. From what I saw at the Champs and the limited amount of colts, I’m concerned with his kicking, especially his short kicks. He was in the AFL Academy IIRC so presumably he has received a higher level of coaching than most draft prospects.

Culley definitely isn't fast but not sure he's as slow as treacle either.
3.1s 20m is fairly slow but in comparison it is faster then Bont and Cripps were. He was 3rd in our preseason 2km time trial too. So while not fast must be able to run a bit.

I enjoy watching him play. Got some mongrel and intent. Provides some good tackling in the fwd line and is good mark. We don't have a lot of mid/fwd types that can go forward and provide pressure and kick goals while also being able to provide some grunt in the midfield.

People have short memories. He was getting talked up all preseason as a breakout candidate. Came out with a 4 goal rising star nom and then got injured. Not sure how he goes from that to a 1 year deal and finge delist material.
Something smells a bit off with it IMO. Not sure if he was insulted with the 1yr deal and its why he took so long to sign it or if there is another reason in play for the 1yr deal.
Is it confirmed if it is on the rookie list or the main list?

Yep, some good points there. Wouldn't call him slow.

Probably another season on the rookie list because we'll have a lot to get rid of next season.

I recall many a year ago when another Watson lad got recruited by west coast and refused to play...

I clearly remember the hype around Jack Watts.
The masses get led very easily, you don’t have to look too far back through history to see that.
It’s almost as if Harley Reid is destined for 5 Brownlows, 10 all Australians, and will get 20 more possessions a game than any other kid drafted this year, if you believe the hype.
Personally I call bullshit.
Course it’s bullshit! He’ll struggle to get three Brownlows!

It’s because he was talked up as mid the whole time and when played in the guts, he struggled to get the footy. It was only when we played him forward he started to find the footy and showed some unexpected forward ability.
For me he doesn’t get enough of it in the middle at the moment, and is too slow to be there without the ball in his hands ( ala Sheed/Priddis) so unless something changes I’d keep playing him forward.

Wait wait wait Gold Coast actually have a board??

Really?

Was getting decent possessions and tackle numbers in the middle last year. Played a bit of a different role before getting in jured this year, so of course his stats declined.

3rd in 2 minute trial is elite.

I'll take bont/Cripps slow any day.

I think it's a fair concern tbh.

Culley was second to the ball on far too many occasions this season - look at his tackle stats.

Maybe he could make it as a defensive midfielder, but we've already got the quicker, classier Ginbey in that role.

If he gets a fair crack in the middle next year, he needs to start winning his own ball, making space and accumulating. I can't see him making it as a forward.
