I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

I had a nightmare the other night that we traded pick 1 for a handful or picks and we drafted a KPD and Ruckman with our first two picks.

Thank heavens we’re not THAT stupid.

Taking a generational talent like Reid seems too good to happen to us right now.

Expect the credits crew to win a few meaningless fixtures at the end of the season to scupper our dreams.

I mean, with North keep losing the close ones...it just has that feel about it, yannow.
Surely West Coast can’t be dumb enough to win some meaningless games at the end of the year and lose pick 1??

Kane Cornes article suggesting that Reids talent will be wasted if he's drafted by the embarrassing Eagles.

West Coast have been labelled “an embarrassment to the game” in yet another scathing attack and have been warned players, including prospective top pick Harley Reid, simply won’t want to play there.

Controversial AFL analyst Kane Cornes unloaded on the 18th-placed Eagles and implored Reid and his management to do their best to get West Coast to trade the prized top pick to Melbourne.

In his weekly column for The Age, Cornes wrote that if Reid landed at the Eagles his career would be “at risk of stagnating, rather than flourishing”.

So i did this last night till i was too tired in response to someone on reddit arguing that 4+ 6 was better than one.

Looking at people saying we should swap for giants 4 and 6 as thats a better hand and came up with this:

2002 brendon goddard vs tim walsh and steven salopek

2003 adam cooney vs farren ray and kepler bradley

2004 brett deledio vs richard tambling and tom williams

2005 was your first win- marc murphy vs josh kennedy and beau dowler

2006 bryce gibbs vs matthew leuenberger and mitchell thorp

2007 matthew kreuzer vs cale morton and david myers

2008 win 2 - jack watts vs hamish hartlett and chris yarran

2009 tom scully vs anthony morabito and gary rohan

That shows the depth of the draft is key. Splitting pick 1 last year looks like a good deal for North. However, if things remain as they seem this year (with Reid head and shoulders above the rest) then you're better off keeping it. These things are obviously easier to figure out in hindsight.

I'm leaving toward Reid at pick 1. We'll get another good player around pick 19 (or whatever it slides to). That gives us some good young prospects with:Reid, Ginbey, Hewett, Long, Chesser, Maric, Culley, Hough, Bazzo and potential of Williams and Barnett in the talls. Hopefully we can get a tall KPD later in the draft (or turn Jamo into one).

Bottom 4 again next year and we've probably got all the building blocks for the rebuild. Then turn focus onto trading for needs and Free Agency. Adelaide did exactly this and are back pushing for finals in year 6 of the build (which will be 2026 for us). Puts us on track for our 2030 flag (keeping the 12 year gap going).

We should probably be talking about a trade for GOld Coasts 1st rounder first and foremost. Only 2 options Gold Coast have besides us to get a better draft position is Adelaide (not happening after Rankine) and Collingwood

19,37,38,56,57 for pick 9,46 and 62

Then use a 3rd rounder from next year and 46 to get back into the 20-30 spots this year and have 1,9, 20 odd and 62

To get to the place where the points makes sense, yes

Unless someone wants to giive Gold Coast 700+ extra points or Gold Coast want to take unders then yes. we are the only 2 who can do a similar points for points deal
Why does it have to be a points for points deal. Surely the suns will take every opportunity to gather points that’s the reason you give that pick away. If you’re giving up a top 10 pick you will be looking to win the transfer on points otherwise just keep the pick.
I’d imagine on the first split alone it would be a 500 point gain.
Dogs and Dees alone can blow our bid out of the water as they both have multiple late first round picks

I can see your point but pick 6 throughout history has been a bit of an anomaly with how bad the results have been compared to picks around it.
