Maybe only an unpopular opinion among Collingwood supporters but...

I think Port should be able to call themselves the Magpies, wear the prison bars in all games where there isn't a clash, and should be able to wear it at home against Collingwood. EPL has had multiple teams with the same uniform before. They're in different states, people in Melbourne aren't going to get confused and start barracking for Port just because they have a vaguely similar uniform and colours. Added bonus of giving us a team to support in September in the years in which Collingwood suck.

AS a Collingwood supporter i agree. We are way too precious. But i would never support Port!

As soon as Port have an identity they are proud of i think i will keep calling them nobodies. If they don't know who they are, why should i bother trying to find out?

bro what year do u think it is, that was resolved in like 2012

I agree with the prison bars whenever they want but calling themselves the magpies is ****n stupid

You better ask Kochie that, he doesn't know what day it is? Kick Port out now!

when it comes to Kochie I'll let my FISTS do the talking

Would it be a shared opinion from other Western Australians that they would prefer a later grand final over the traditional timeslot?

I think Grand Finals in Melbourne should stay 2:40pm

But I would think a majority of west aussies, like myself would think the Saturday 5:40pm timely would suit Perth best for Grand Final. It’s probably the most favoured time slot here in the West.

So 8:40pm everywhere else!? Unfortunately for you guys the rest of Australia needs to be considered in that decision making. Game would be finishing after 11pm.

That would be 740eastern. Like normal Saturday nights

Given Collingwood are pretty much referred to more regularly as the Pies these days rather than Magpies, they should consider changing. their nickname to that.

Wouldn't be the first team to shorten a nickname, eg New York Knicks used to be the New York Knickerbockers.

Could equally make this argument for Melbourne changing to the Dees, not targeting Collingwood, just throwing an idea out there.

Crows are already short for Croweaters.

i HATE the push in the back rule - marking contest fine. but in a tackle, and you fall into the opponents back is a free kick ? an abhorrent rule that has festered and brings the 'look at me' umpires into the picture. i fail to see how this rule has been signed off, utter horseshi*

100% agree. I always thought push in the back is just that - when you physically push another player into the back. The reason the rule was introduced was because players were being pushed into dangerous situations (I've still got a clicky wrist from being pushed in the back over the boundary line and then stupidly landing with my wrist out to try and prevent myself hitting the fence) and it gives an unfair advantage to the player behind.

When a player executes a tackle and ends up on top of the player or the other player is already on their front and a player comes over the top, so what? There's no danger there. I reckon they hardly ever pay actual pushes in the back but always pay the tackle in the back.

So when a kid or new fan hears pies we want them to think of this?

Unpopular opinion: I don't care about Shaun Burgoyne retiring.

Nothing against a fine player, but I feel like the 400 game celebration was the farewell tour.

1. The requirement to bounce the ball every 15m should be removed. What function does this serve exactly? Surely players running with the ball is an exciting aspect of the game that we want to encourage.

2. Get rid of the video review for goals and to make it simpler, if the ball grazes the post and then goes through the goals it is a goal, if it bounces back into play or through the behind posts then it is a behind. It's not 'traditional' but neither is stopping the game on almost every goal kicked because the goal umpires are terrified of making a mistake.
I made a thread about similar things a while back, had to change my name and go into protective custody such was the angst, our current rules makes life unnecessarily hard for goal umpires/3rd umpires.

fingertip touches by the defending team, Who gives a ****.

Hits the post but goes through, GOAL

Oh, you were the new 'Jones' family that moved in across the road a while back?

I unwisely 'suggested' abolishing the time wasting video review rubbish in a thread a few years ago and also threw in; if the ball hit's any post and rebounds back into the field, it's 'play-on'..!
Thereafter, regular suggestions of freak boating accidents and my house or car somehow catching fire became quite common...

St.Kilda remain a blight on the Comp. They and North should never have been admitted to the VFL. Port Melbourne were really the go.

St.Kilda have added near zero to the comp, beyond W's in their Oppos win column for nearly a century.

I say amalgamate the resources of Carlton, North and the Saints and take back their licenses.

Issue new licenses to a viable mob in Tassie and Port Melbourne.
