Doc when and were does the information kyneton wont have a twos side come from. Training numbers have been about the same as usual for kyneton but there quiet a few young blokes who through work commitments aren't training at the moment but should field a side. Disappointly some who have been around a few years are moving on and would not because of what they got paid. They would all be playing for less than they got at tigerland. the commitment from some is bewildering at the least. Trying hard to sign the locals that are left.

Honestly, I was only making an assumption about the Kyneton 2's mate... but you confirmed my assumption with your own words. I don't know how you'll solve the problem that Kyneton faces every year - maybe the Tigers should just move to the RDFL b/c that's where all your "players" will be getting a kick in 2009. Hope your committee gets a few runs on the board, I feel for them all crap aside.

scott mccartney is the general manager for the rdfl i believe, maybe some of you from kyneton should start talks with him in regard to getting your side into a league were you may just be competitive, lets face it how many yrs do you want to be the cellar dwellers for ?
success breeds $$$$$$ boys sponsorship, attendances gate takings all of which you are missing out on, make the move now kyneton and you may just see a hole new culture start up there-winning culture that would be !

Contradicting myself here, because I don't want to keep feeding the "Kyneton" theme, but today's Advertiser ran an article about the Tigers missing out (they were being kind) on Karl Norman.

Also mentions they have lost Dryden (Darley), Ruffell and Erwin (Lancefield) Edmonds (Macedon) Cook and Else (Woodend-Hesket)... with Cameron Tate also leaving... Huge losses for a side that finished last in 08.

Yeah,I dunno. Steve Oliver and S Reaper are rumoured to be playing, so I don't think WINNING is the goal.

They've put the bushfire cause above the pride thing on this occasion which is more than fair enough. Good on them.

If we had a true "best of BFL" side, the Bombers would be in trouble you'd think. Only their Essendon listed players would be a threat.

Pretty safe to say that they wont be playing, most players i've spoken to from BFL are pretty keen for a big game so dont count on a fizzer just yet boys!!

Strath 7th??? bit optimistic dont ya think? seriously suprised if they get within 5 goals of anyone!

Square/E'hawk/South/Gissy/Flat/

Then Hurst/Maine/Maryboro/Strath/Kyneton

So Tiges for the Spoon, Justin Maddern for the Michelsen and Dayne Frew (if he stays injury free) for the Ron Best Medal. Otherwise Balraj from the Burra for the senior goalkicking

Strath 7th??? bit optimistic dont ya think? seriously suprised if they get within 5 goals of anyone!
not optimistic at all think it will be a close wooden spoon between the bottom 4 on that list. strath have been training since nov and only missed a week over xmas with huge numbers to most sessions, will have a heap to pick from in all 3 grades so numbers and fitness not an issue however talent may be still think you need the commitment they have shown and not whats been displayed at mary, kyn, cast etc. with very low no.s on the track. will be a interesting round 1 strath v castlemaine at strath:thumbsu:

i don't want to put the strath boys down but i'd be very surprised if they won a game? Just very hard to get a side up from scratch(just ask the North Ballarat boys).
They may be fit but so were the diggers every year.....so i don't buy that argument.

Maybe the Kyneton games will be their chance.

Be careful about wanting Kyneton to join the RDFL. The repocussions of them leaving the BFL is that Gisborne will also leave the BFL.......and Bendigo Football cant afford to loose Gisborne, love them or hate Gisborne they are responsible for the standard of footy that Bendigo tops sides enjoy, there on field and of field professionalism have set the standard for the BFL. If Kyneton leave, I guarantee you that within 12mths Gisborne will also leave and more than likely join the Ballarat Football league, where the major towns surrounding Gisborne play at the moment, why would Gisborne stay in the BFL when Castlemaine is there nearest game.......60 km away. Then where will the BFL be........Bendigo based, 3 successful clubs and a a few regional towns struggling to field U18 teams and Reserves....Bendigo Football will need a restructure and complete overhaul. To the BFL managers....do all you can to help Kyneton........No Kyneton..No Gisborne

They wouldnt have the guts to leave.
Gisborne has always liked being the big fish in a very small pond, and now that there era is over, they will bounce along in the Bendigo comp with mediocrity and keep fooling themselves with just this type of arrogant mindset.

As the guy who proposed the super Goldfields League let me say I totally agree with Greenman's comments. If the Bendigo league is to succeed it must have competitive country clubs or just become a farce. Kyneton must be supported through hard times. From Gisbourne's point of view Sunbury is just down the road and Darley, Bacchus Marsh & the Melton clubs all closer then Bendigo. Why would Gisbourne stay in the Bendigo League?- It is a club that has already shown is not frighted to go to a stronger competition league so the Ballarat competition would become even more tempting without Kyneton.

If Kyneton and Gisbourne left the BFL why would a struggling Maryborough (or even Castlemaine) stay? - where does it end.

I am a Sandhurst supporter, but strongly believe the BFL must support its country clubs. I don't know if a merger between Gisbourne and Kyneton is possible. That would be better than losing Kyneton then setting off a chain reaction.

Just like they did not have the guts to leave the RDFL? How long can a club be a power house for? 7 years now - not good enough for you? 4 flags in 7 years is exceptional.

Looking out the clearances there are some big outs KA, what are the recruits like? With most from Melb thay could be guns for all we know in Bendigo?
And realistically were do you see them this year?

I hope I have the spelling correct, but I have just heard from down Kyneton way that they have signed Lance Piccone ex- Hawthorn. Good on them if they have!!:) Need a strong vibrant BFL.

I think it will be a fight to make the finals. If they win the majority at Gis they should go close. I think they will be a fair bit behind Square, South and Eaglehawk in 09. The teams finishing 5th the last few years have not been overly strong.
Potter will be a good player. But Gis can not cover the quality they have lost. This has opened the doors for some of the kids to get some experience at this level. Will be an interesting year.

yeah thanks KA, might be good for the club in the long run. If its one thing Gissy is good for it's bringing quality kids through so i'd be surprised if they missed finals.

Eaglehawk
Golden Square
South Bendigo
Gisborne
Kangaroo Flat

Sandhurst
Castlemaine
Maryborough
Kyneton?
Strathfieldsaye?

Bottom 2 may swap around?

But there's my Ladder after the final round.

Premiers G'Square- hopefully! haha

Not a major influencing factor usually, but the depth at E/hawk and South could be tested with a large number of fringe senior / two's players leaving. Interesting to see how they go if injuries hit their Best 22.

Your top 3 can be raffled as to where they finish. No one out side of that will fill the top 3 spots. Rule out finals for Kyneton and Strath. Which leave 5 teams for the last 2 spots.

Square for me as well.
