Clarko tried to play the best 22 that would win each week. No one gets it right every time, but I would take his judgement over yours every day of the week.

No he thought he did, but it was proven so it’s not really an opinion. He played certain players too long and was wrong as many are and can be. He had favourites.

It wasn’t proven, you just ended up not having a very good list. This was mainly due to neglecting the draft for so long.

No. Their times were up. They were picked because they were favourites and because of their pasts.

Worpel’s like a young Mitch Robinson. Yeah, he’ll do a job, but he’s no ‘star’ of the comp

The 18 months before but I can’t include 2019? His latest form is post bye. It’s the most relevant. But you want to look before that and then skip the B&F year.

Dimma, star.

I love your passion but the fact no one is supporting your argument surely must suggest James isn't nearly as good as you think.

Supercoach points is a very good indication I feel of a players impact. CD take into account everything when grading a players performance.

Charlie Ballard (Gold Coast Suns) 71 post bye average, James Worpel 79 post bye average.

Now we can all agree that James has shown he can play but he is a very small part of this sum of moving parts (the total topic at hand and that is players under 25).

Hard at it. Defends. Throws it on the boot without looking.

Name an older player Worpel more reflects?
Worpel is more than just hard at it and good defensively.

Robbo is solid, named above ^ but he hacks it on the boot and isn’t a great kick at all technique wise or anything, doesn’t have that ability to find it in and out easily not super good clearance wise and explosively hand skills aren’t also great. So many things Worpel does that Robbo doesn’t.

Post bye Worps had a game against Collingwood where he went off pretty early with an injury, before that he had found the footy and kicked a goal. He had a fair run of a goal a game and probably 25 or more disposals a game.

No Brownlow votes from his 35 games in the last two seasons suggests he hasn’t been starring. Did have a nice run of 7 games last year where he kicked a goal each week tho.

If you drew that in Pictionary, I’d answer James Worpel.

It’s fair there. But I’d say a run where you’re kicking a goal a game and 25+ touches a game post bye is pretty ****ing good.

Before that he had good and bad games and was super inconsistent. Was put into negating roles as it was the only way he got in the midfield with Clarko at one stage, it’s why i think Clarkos time was done.

Sam likes him and I think most people will end up seeing it in 2022.

But yeah his latest form is post bye where he was good.

To me Worpel is David Swallow.

Tough, can find the ball and tackle, Not hugely skilled. Can kick goals on occasion but not a regular goal scorer.

A top 50 mid in the league at his best, but that’s about it.

Liam Shiels for one.

So Clarko gets the blame for playing Shiels (who is apparently past it) when Mitchell still has him on your list? Shiels has played all your practice games.

Clarko is going to get the blame for the Kennedy assassination next.

Shiels played in the 2nd team in the first game and played a half against Richmond. If he plays it’ll likely be with a couple CBAs as a rest option and sitting on a flank. Or he won’t play like many suspect and his last year. He was also contracted for this year and is a senior player would be handy for a young team with leadership stuff even off field.

Clarko played him too much until late last year and especially giving him midfield time that he shouldn’t have gotten.

So Clarko and Shiels are to blame for his average form the past 2 years?

I love your passion Dominic03 but I feel this is something you should agree to disagree on and move on. Far to many people are suggesting Worpel isn't as good as you think he is so best for your own mindset to accept what the group think is saying.

I probably wouldn't even have Hawthorn in the top 5 of top 5's under 25 anyway;

I would have (DISCLAIMER THIS IS HOW I SEE THEM AND NOT NECCESARILY AFL RANKINGS OR WHATEVER)

(1) Carlton;
Jacob Weitering
Harry McKay
Sam Walsh
Adam Cerra
Jack Silvagni

(2) Brisbane;
Zac Bailey
Eric Hipwood
Hugh McCluggage
Jarrod Berry
Brandon Starcevic

(3) Port Adelaide;
Connor Rozee
Xavier Duursma
Zak Butters
Sam Powell - Pepper
Mitch Giorgiades

(4) Essendon;
Darcy Parish
Andy McGrath
Jordan Ridley
Sam Draper
Mason Redman

(5) North Melbourne;
Jy Simpkin
Cam Zurhaar
Jaidyn Stephenson
Luke Davies - Uniacke
Tarryn Thomas
(Ben McKay, Nick Larkey)

(6) Dockers;
Sean Darcy
Andrew Brayshaw
Caleb Serong
Jordan Clark
Brennan Cox

(7) Dogs;
Tim English
Bailey Williams
Aaron Naughton
Bailey Smith
Ed Richards

(8) Giants;
Tim Taranto
Sam Taylor
Tom Green
Lachie Ash
Isaac Cumming

(9) Geelong
Jack Henry
Brandon Parfitt
Esava Ratugalea
Gryan Myers
Quinton Narkle

(10) Suns;
Ben King
Jack Lukosius
Matt Rowell
Noah Anderson
Ben Ainsworth
(Isaac Rankin, Charlie Balard, Will Powell)

(11) Hawthorn;
Jack Srimshaw
James Worpel
Changkuoth Jiath
Will Day
Jacob Koschitze

Collingwood's is crap, Quyanor the only notable AFL player, perhaps John Noble.

Crows have potential led by Thilthorp and Jordan Butts but the collective looks poor.

Dees won a flag but thet group outside of Oliver is poor on current output.

Saints have the potential to make a splash but outside of Gresham, the others are potentially very good.

Swans another who outside of Cal Mills, are all loosely based on potential.

Eagles look in a world of trouble for the future. Couple who could be good but not yet.

Tigers are another who look to be in some hurt. A few guys who could easily be good AFL players but not just yet.

So yeah, Worpel may be ok but as a group, Hawthorn's isn't nearly as good as you think they are mate. Plenty of other teams as talented if not more than Hawthorn.

My point again completely missed. Some bias for sure in my review of Worpel, but a lot of our talent is blue or yellow, visible upside or talent yet to play much.

More people will come to realise in 2022.

Don’t disagree with some of your things in your list either mine was more a minor scale of rating hawthorns list.

Just an FYI the best under 25 sides aren’t just a group of 5/6.
