Pretty clear from champion data perspective.

Maybe their analytics are viewed through a royal blue and white filter
Don't believe Wardlaw and Powell to be as good as they've been rated but I also think Sheezel should be rated a lot higher.

You should be especially filthy Rowell is rated that much higher than Sheezel who is just better even now.

Did a fun exercise and rated each player born 2000 onwards to get a list 1-18

1. Fremantle - Carried by Young, Serong, Jackson and Treacy

2. Hawthorn - Think Hawthorn's list is more well rounded but Freo's top players beat out the Hawks

3. Adelaide - Little bit surprised I rate their youth lead by Rankine and Thilthorpe

4. Gold Coast - Scary thing is this isn't even accounting for potential for guys like Lombard, Walter, Humphrey, Read

5. St Kilda - Same as Adelaide I was shocked how many Saints players make at least decent-good AFL players. Problem is they still don't have the 'superstar/s'. Might be Ross Lyon effect where he gets the best out of players when I watch

6. GWS - Green, Callaghan then a huge gap honestly

7. Port Adelaide - Butters, Rozee, Horne-Francis is ridiculous but rate the depth after for GWS a lot higher

8. North Melbourne - Ended up the same rating as Port but less top quality. Side note Paul Curtis is a little underrated

9. Sydney - You can interchange Cats and Bombers for this position. However Gulden and Warner as a pair beat out any pair from the other two teams

10. Geelong - Smith, Holmes, Henry extremely good but not better than the pair above

11. Essendon - Similar to St Kilda where I don't really see a superstar player there yet

12. Melbourne - Pickett best player then probably Windsor for mine(?) Not 100% sold on likes of Chandler, Sparrow, Rivers, van Rooyen, McVee to be more than decent best 22 players right now

13. Brisbane - Lions have the equal second least number of 25 and under players yet still end up 12th. Without whatever L. Ashcroft becomes. Headlined by Lohmann, W. Ashcroft and Morris

14. West Coast - Would be equal last without Harley Reid :grimacing: Needs someone to come along. I have faith that Hewett can rise, liked what I saw first year

15. Western Bulldogs - Losing Smith hurts a lot for this exercise. Carried by their forward line of Darcy, Ugle-Hagan and Weightman, minimal output everywhere else

16. Richmond - Equal most amount of 25 and under with GWS. However see absolutely no one before this previous draft that's even threatening becoming a star, maybe just a bunch of nice role players like Brown, Ross, Campbell, Banks, Rioli, Ralphsmith but at the same time I can see any of those not make it past 100 games. At least Gibcus can potentially take a key spot. That group of players is extremely worrying to me. The positive is they have 8 draftees including 6 first rounders after this year with a chance to hit and completely shoot up this list. Potential controversial Richmond rant over

17. Collingwood - Least amount of 25 and under players. Only reason they beat out Carlton is No. 35

18. Carlton - Walsh then a grand canyon sized gap to get to the likes of Cottrell, Motlop, Hollands brothers
I’d be interested to know why you think hawks is more well rounded.

Here’s Freo’s list
Clark(hb) AA squad
Jackson (fwd/Rk) AA squad
Young (mid) AA squad
Serong(mid) 2x AA

Amiss 40+ kf
Treacy 40+ kf

Draper (KD) rising nom
Sturt (Fwd) rising nom
Walker (small defender) rising nom
Chapman (KD) rising nom
Odriscoll (wing) rising nom
Johnson (mid) rising nom

Fredrick (fwd)
Sharp (wing)
Erasmus (mid)

Freo have proven u25 talent all over the ground

Showing my bias against defenders again but I don't really rate Draper or Walker.

I have Serong and Young as the two best players between the two teams.

The next 12 players however;
Day
Newcombe
Watson
Ginnivan
Macdonald
D'Ambrosio
Weddle
Dear

vs

Jackson
Treacy
Clark
Amiss

Both sides with others lower like Sturt, Maginness, Frederick, Ward, Chapman, Mackenzie and Sharp

But yeah after Serong and Young I think Hawks dominate the next dozen best players.

Sturt kicked 21 goals from 13 games
Watson kicked 25 from 18
Chapman the same total coaches votes as weddle
Fredrick and ginnivan both have kicked 86 goals
But your right take out serong ,young, defenders and players that you haven’t been told are good
Hawks have more rounded talent

Are you judging on potential
If you've shown the same output as a 19, 20, 21 year old compared to a 23, 24 year old I think there's merit to rate them higher. The natural conclusion that at this point, they'll provide that level for longer.

That being said I still prefer the three Hawks you mentioned over the Freo players.

Odriscoll Chapman and co did it in 2022 like hawks in 2024
Injuries have hampered some of them since.
I think your theory has flaws

Here’s 10 goals from odriscoll in his second year on the wing in 2022 freo had a run like hawks

Terrible over 26s though. If they did an under age comp, indeed Fremantle may be premiership favourites.

Well Josh Goater kept Greene to 0 goals in round 1 and archer is a better one on one defender.

But this is getting silly
Someone mentioned that NWM is better overall, he is. Archer can lockdown better because that’s his role.

Jim Carrey Alrighty Then GIF by Ace Ventura

You surely aren’t suggesting Sturt and Chapman should be rated higher/equal to Watson and Weddle?

Clueless.

Not rating on potential, otherwise Richmond would be a lot higher than where I currently have them
Well it makes sense not to rate Richmond higher when not of their draftees have played a game.

Wardlaw, Sheezel and McKercher certainly have shown they can play very well at the level.

Lol what a ridiculous thing to say. How tf could you possibly predict that?
By watching those 3 and not seeing any one on the Saints list that look better than them. Pretty simple.

I would say that Freo has the best top 5 under 25?

Serong
Young
Jackson
Clarke
Amiss
Its not Bad. I would also Add Josh Traecy too... 45 goals and 15 behinds as a KPF in 2024.

Pick 7 in the 2021 Rookie draft.

Had he played a full season at Bendigo Pioneers in 2020, Treacy would of been easily taken in the top 20 that draft.

Nice side... if I'm picking for now...

B: Bond, N Murray, Keane
HB: Michaelanny, Worrell, Nankervis
C: Sholl, Soligo, Peatling
HF: Rachele, Curtin, Dowling
F: Cook, Thilthorpe, Pedlar
R: T Murray, Berry, Rankine
I: Ryan, Jones, Draper, Taylor
Sub: Schoenberg
E: Edwards, Borlase, Welsh
Not a bad squad. A young 22 to 25 year old Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane and Scott Thompson would help that midfield.

For the record think O'Driscoll is underrated as a whole and is in Freo's best side when fit, just needs some luck getting on the park.

Well, they’re all top five picks and have played like it so I don’t really get the surprise.
It's just the self-assured confidence that all three will be better than any kid on our list. Like I said, good on you for the confidence you may as well back yourself in I guess. I still think it's a ridiculous statement as so much in footy can change but maybe I'm just a fence sitter.

I would say if Wardlaw and McKercher reach the level Nasiah is at right now North would be pretty happy.
