It was really just the Sydney game where the umps absolutely gifted them the win that he blew up. He actually went up in my eyes when he did that, as he showed he won’t stand for blatant cheating
Was that the one where he said Pies wouldn't get that sort of umpiring run at the MCG?

That would be me, I have met him personally and let me tell you not impressed.
You must be a campaigner. He’s one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet.

He’d just generally chat to anyone about footy when his son played at Box Hill.

The only coach I've ever actively disliked (or had no respect for) was Alan Jeans when he was coaching StKilda and ordered the hit on John Greening. The aftermath of that incident showed Jean's true character (one of stubborn denial and ominous threat) and that meant I could never respect that man ever again.

Nice to see moderators following the sites rules. But as always you guys only selectively enforce and never on yourselves.

Simon Goodwin - strikes me as a bit of a fraud. Surrounded by premiership and experienced coaches, always looks like a deer in headlights when being interviewed, and has arguably underachieved.

This is true.

But if Hardwick was sacked at the end of 2016 then we would have tens of thousands less posts on Bigfooty about Richmond from obsessed Geelong supporters.
If Hardwick was sacked at the end of 2016, there's every chance the next coach would have been able to get Richmond to finish above us on the ladder and actually earn the right to host us at the MCG in the qualifying final.
Richmond only finished above us on the ladder three times during the Hardwick era.

For me Goodwin as he is a liar, fraud but also Ken with that look towards the oppo captain and with the antics straight after a big win. Congrats on winning the game Kenny 👍

Why does one need to discredit the other. Both lived experiences could be true.

Seems a new age softy. I don't hate him but can understand the reasoning. Beveridge is somewhat similar.
His positive approach gets the best out of his players, obviously. Can assure he’s no softy behind closed doors. Perfect balance of that and also being firm.

The whole good guy mask came away a bit last season when things were grim
It’s not a good guy mask, he’s allowed to lose his cool for once and it was pretty justified after that specific umpiring performance (which he came out and apologised for). Always been a fair coach.

Ken Hinkley, Brad Scott and then Matthew Nicks are objectively the worst coaches with their lack of success. Nicks has been coaching The Crows for 5 seasons with no finals appearances, Hinkley and Brad Scott are 12 seasons into coaching without a grand final appearance, Scott gets off the hook only slightly over Ken, because he reset at a second club.

He did state that the Pies would get those calls at the G because of the home ground advantage. He wasn’t wrong.

He’s also come out and said we have an unfair advantage getting the most games at the G. More open & honest than most coaches at least.

Hinkley is cuddly though and a man of the people.

Nah, Fagan is one of the most liked and respected blokes in the industry, regardless of how many times I’ve found him to be all class.
