The better question really is which of the three teams will still be in threads like this in 3 years time? You don't want to be here anymore because it means your young crop has actually matured to the point of making your team decent and it's not about youth anymore.

Adelaide will be entrenched in the 8 in the next couple of years.

Hawthorn will be heading in the right direction.

North will be picking fights still with WCE and co as they once again head to the draft with a top 3 pick to dazzle their clueless fans for the next couple of years.

Thread is almost 3 years old already. It should be declared now on the lists at the time. Which rules hawthorn out cos they have recruited lots in the last two years.

It’s probably Adelaide.

This is why the thread is now ridiculous, it’s so wishy washy that it’s a destination for serial arguers. And saying wins of the team is simply not a clear indicator of the quality of undeveloped talent.

Although it is adel 22 wins haw 20 wins north 8.5 wins since the thread started
In the 2 drafts since Adelaide have recruited 12 players. Hawthorn 19 and North 20

Adelaide and North started their rebuild a year early. We were still in the top 8 trying to top up our list when the Crows and North dropped out.

To be this far ahead of North and reasonably close to Adelaide is a remarkable in itself and speaks volumes on our talent ID and development (especially our late picks).

In 2020 Adelaide finished 18th with 3 wins. North finished 17th also with 3 wins, including a belting of Adelaide. Walker, Sloane, Laird and Smith were all in that Crows side.

Since that time, Adelaide has won 23 games, North has won 8. The Crows have beaten North 5 times in that period by an average of 47 points. But we’re told to believe by North fans in this thread that it’s entirely down to those four players I previously mentioned.

But you're not close to Adelaide.

Since North and Adelaide started their rebuilds in 2020…well, North started 2020 with Rhys Shaw coaching thinking we would make finals. That fell apart, and so did Rhys. We then hired the worst coach since Mark Neeld and went backwards after cutting half our list. Then needed to replace the entire football department and start again. So our rebuild - under a competent coach and football department - begins this year. We are rebuilding a failed rebuild.

Crows have had the same coach since they started to rebuild. The two sides aren’t comparable — only someone with no knowledge of reality who is trying to score points on an anonymous forum could fail to understand that. Crows are three years ahead of us cos our first rebuild failed. Good for them.

Check in on North this time next year once we’ve had 2 seasons under a competent football department and fitness regime. At present the two sides are not comparable. We’ll see in two weeks how North vs Hawks are tracking.

I say let them dream.
Today is just highlighting how overrated they are. Poor forward line can’t kick a goal in half a game of footy. A poor midfield playing the usual unaccountable footy who don’t run back to help the defence and can’t deliver to forwards. Ward seems to be their only midfielder who at least attempts to run run back and defend. Unfortunately, he isn’t that quick.
And the backline has no hope.

Problem is that this has been typical.

I mean the win loss since the time of this thread has us pretty close.

Adelaide have taken that next step but they are a year ahead. Hopefully we make that next step in 1-2 years.

Another trash take from you. Keep going. 👍

Youngest team in the competiton without CHB and captain plays poorly.
It's not that surprising . We're going to have patches like this. Par for the course for a rebuilding side.

Our selection was terrible. Losing Brockman through illness and replacing with Wingard + Greene is a recipe for disaster. We have a forward line of Breust, Wingard and Greene who cannot offer any defensive pressure. Carlton are walking the ball out.

Why? It’s been the case all season. Are you watching the game? But Carlton will probably take a breather and the Hawks will kick a couple of goals and then you’ll be on about ‘what we are capable of’.

Again it confirms Adelaide is so far ahead of the Hawks that this thread should be West coast, North and Hawthorn.

But Greene is ‘Gunston-like’.

Carlton has Lewis Young as ruckman and Blues midfield dominating.

You keep harping on about Greene and Gunston. No one has compared Greene to prime Gunston in ability.

As I mentioned before...Greene is comparable to Gunston only in the role they play and their output in 2023.

Adelaide are a chance at the top 4 this year..they will be playing finals.. we aren't playing finals next year..probably won't in 2025 as well...We need another key forward to play alongside Lewis. A quality small forward to replace Breust and two quality key defenders. James Blanck and Sam Frost are not the answer. Our rucks are putrid as well. Those are huge holes to still fill.

So if Hawthorn play really bad that’s “the real Hawthorn” but if Hawthorn actually comes out and starts kicking goals, it doesn’t mean anything?

Just another classic nuffy take from Vinnie.

Our rucks aren't putrid. They are 30 games in to a very long career. Blanck will be fine as a stopper - not a world beater but a solid citizen KPD. We do need another KPD to free up Sicily as Frost is a stop gap.

Agree with forward line. We need a second KPF and some smalls. We will target that this year with either Caddy/Watson. One will slip to us unless North get the secret herb and spices compo pick for McKay.

When the pressure is off. Of course. Just like the port game.

What about when we were winning games?

Was the pressure off? Brisbane and the Saints just weren't feeling it? Was it just Venus in retrograde?

It's the youngest side in the comp rebuilding. We are going to have ups and downs.

Of course Dom has. And SYL has a crush on him.
