Started Station 11, two episodes in and not sure if I'm digging the artsy fartsy vibe just yet, im just a big dumb dumb.
yeah you're not alone, there is a deep horror in spending a post-apocalypse with theater kids, I'd take to the hills.

mixed overall but it is worth a watch, the initial airport episode with Clark (E5 I think) was a decent bit of television. I happened to be reading The Odyssey then which felt very in tune with this, the epic human scope, the kind of storytelling troupes of that time, etc.

I’m going to Binge that in one go; can’t wait
Yep I did this. Good viewing, although I do enjoy viewing tv/movies set around this time I must admit

Sounds like I may persist a little further.
I really enjoyed the first Episode, but the 2nd took me a bit by surprise, but as you say those bloody theatre kids. Their stupid big smiles and love and comune crap gave me a stomach ache.

finished L/H final season (vague spoilers ahead)

feel like Siobhan was the story of the season, given a lot more to work with, a whole lot of fun

lost count of how many times Patrick fought off a direct assassination hit, what a unit! vest or no, even putting his body on the line as bait if need be

Janet :disappointed:

you knew Nidge was like, Terence is the first dude I can’t imagine myself replacing

Nidge looked so pathetic standing there in those King Nidge runners. A shell by then. ...for a day

the pool cue thing was a bit much (and you can’t help but love that mad bastard despite it all) but I guess he had something excessive like that coming. Nadine sighting was also chancey (a bit like the earlier Gardai tail arrest he kept getting thwarted when armed enroute to the hit). Apparently a pool cue was a symbolic tribute in Stephen Clinch’s funeral a few years back.

I was a bit let down with Masters of Air; probably expected more combat scenes
Yeah, and just the nature of it means the combat scenes are basically the bomber flying straight and level while getting chewed up by flak and German fighters. As significant as the events are in a historical sense, they don't lend themselves as well to TV adaptation as ground based combat. BoB is still the gold standard, the Pacific was good but not as good as BoB, and Masters of the Air is good but not as good as The Pacific.

Memphis Belle combat scenes were great cgi for that era

Started Goosebumps on Disney with no expectations and so far have been pleasantly surprised. The movies have been god awful.

Good nostalgia hit as a book lover when I was a young bloke. Seeming to follow a book per episode as one overall story.

Say cheese and die was my favourite book so would be keen to see if its adapted here.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this show, great ride from start to finish.

The lead male actor who played the Jackal Eddie Redmayne, carries the show and was perfect and brilliantly cast. He played a cold, calculated, calm and chillingly ruthless antagonist/protagonist, depending on how you viewed the story. The lead female actor played by Lashana Lynch ("Female Bond" from No Time to Die) was IMO, unrealistic, flat, "cliched" and unlikable. I should add, that I did like her character and performance in No Time to Die.

I binged watched this series which I recommend and that IMO really gave me an extended movie like experience.

7.5/10

I was surprised and shocked by the ending, I wont spoil it here.

I commented on this last year. A very good show. Agree with those comments.

Late to the party but I watched True Detective season 1 last week.

Easily in the top 3 seasons of any TV show I've ever watched. Phenomenal performances all around, especially Matt though.

Almost don't want to watch the other seasons as I know they'll be a let down.

I think I got 2 or 3 eps into S2 and quit it because I wasnt feeling it. Ended up coming back much later and got through it ok. Was just expecting something of the quality of S1 going in which it definitely wasn't

Same.

I may have to find the 1973? movie and re-watch it
