The year we picked Cole, Davidson and Mcgough with our 1st three picks.

2003 where Morrison was taken first. Only got lucky with H.Shaw everyone else wasn't good at all. At least McGough was ok for a year and Cole gave us 50 games at least (which isn't far off the average amount of games a player plays).
2001 we did get Swanny with a late pick. 58 IIRC.

The worst drafts can only be judged by the quality of what we missed out on. 2003 was an ordinary pool and we didn't miss out on much.

2002 was by far the worst. In 2001 and 2003, we actually got something from the National Draft which remains/gave good service.
Maxwell is our only remaining player from the 2002 Drafts, and he was rookied.

Going back a bit, 97 was a shocker. Only Tarrant and Lockyer are still playing (Tarks was rookie drafted) and apart from that Ben Kinnear is the only other one to play 50 games.
But 2001 takes the cake. Only Dane Swan has survived the superdraft that yielded so many stars.

Summing up from the last upteen posts, I think we can conclude that as as far as drafting players, the 90's were a bit of a disaster. How Gerard Sholly remained as head of recruiting during those years still puzzles me to this day. Judkins improved things a far bit, although that would not be hard( a dartboard would have performed better than Sholly) and Hine has improved things again with some good picks in the last few years.
BY God, do we need 2008 to be a good draft. Will be interesting to see in the coming years if Sidebottom and Co. can cut the mustard.
