Re: Who are your teams best players that weren't originally picked in the first 3 rounds of the draf

ffs, how hard is this thread?

all the bolded above are third rounders.

The first 3 rounds are picks 1 to 48, PLUS extras coming from any adjustments for priority picks, minus the early departure of clubs from the draft due to having all of their picks early.

In the case of Lonergan, there were 3 priority picks and West Coast used all 3 of their picks in the first 2 rounds, hence he was the last pick of the 3rd round of that draft.

David Hille was the 6th pick of the 3rd round.
Bachar Houli and Kyle Reimers were 8th and 13th in the 3rd round of the same draft.

All-Rookie Team:

I reckon this team would genuinely challenge for the top-8. Awesome midfield (how about the rucks!) and very solid defense. Cheating a bit using Sandi up forward, but with Davey, Milne and Osborne crumbing off him, they should be able to generate a heap of goals.

FB.....Gilham..........Rutten.......Morris
HB.....Kennelly........Bock.........Drummond
Cen...McDonald......Kirk...........Lovett
HF.....Davey..........Lynch........Osborne
FF.....Milne...........Sandilands...Porplysia
Foll....Cox.............Sewell........Boyd

Int.....Jolly, Rooke, Foley, Young

Emg....R.Campbell, Lockyer, Priddis, Robertson,

Extras (so, so many - not ordered in any way)
Toovey, Wellingham, Stokes, Clarke, Corrie, Nahas, Carazzo, King, Roe, Geary, Firrito, Dawson, Jack, Hayden, Jamar, Thornton, Garlett, Fletcher, McGlynn, Wonaeamirri, Tuck, Brogan, Moss, Carazzo, Moore, Edwards, Skipworth, Patful, Pratt, Robertson, Byrnes, Jones, Pearce, Maxwell, O'Brien, Wilkes, M.Campbell, Joseph, Lonergan.

Hille was our only pick in the 1999 draft and we got him at pick 40 so thats gotta count for something.

Nick Maxwell has to come in ahead of Drummond (or Kenneally who is not even in the country any more), and Lockyer should be on the wing ahead of McDonald or at least on teh bench ahead of Young or Rooke.

Why? Drummond in my opinion is a better player than Maxwell. Lockyer should be in the starting 18.

I had Maxwell as the '4th' tall, but decided I wanted more run (Drummond), and preferred Morris as the 'swingman'.

McDonald deserves to start, I orginally had Lockyer in the HBF spot in place of Kennelly, but decided Rooke's hardness more value than Lockyer with Kennelly in the team.

So good to see I'm in the right ballpark - they were my last two changes.

Agreed. Not only that, there had been posts earlier pointing out that Lonergan and Reimers just missed. So they were pretty obviously not in it.

Epic, epic fail.
Houli and Reimers came from traded picks which we got for Solomon and our 4th round pick - they were both from the 3rd round, so they don't count. You even admit Hille was a 3rd round pick - heard of graciously admitting a mistake? And with 2005 we traded Richards for their first round pick and for a swap of their 3rd round pick for our 4th round pick. Those were used on Dempsey and Lonergan, being the last picks of both rounds. We did that because we were tyring to argue we could use Sydney's 3rd round pick instead of ours on Neagle - the AFL didn't permit it however.

Please, before telling people to do some research know your own club's drafting history a bit better.
