Who DON'T you want your team to draft? 2023 Edition

That stiff doesnt fly in the AFL system, it is knocked out very quickly

Nat Fyfe was probably the most arragant/cocky 18 year old in his first year at AFL, that changed quickly and 8 years on was pretty diffferent

Sure they may still not treat women like you would want if they were your sister or daughter but thats another matter

Bullying, cockiness just wont fly
Unless Luke Beveridge is your coach.

Don't want to draft Riley Sanders with pick 4. I'm sure he'll be a solid to above-average player, but we just don't need another workman-like midfielder.

I have heard troubling rumors about one kid too that lines up with this, if the victim is female and the perpetrator has curly hair...
If I'm not mistaken the player being referred to has many issues that clubs are well aware of and he still has interest early from teams like Pies, Blues and Bombers. The clubs deffinetly know what they're getting into with him and he has apparently grown up in the last 6 months.

Collard - does he have the mental toughness to forge out a career? Alarm bells when I heard he did the Harold Holt from state duty.
Moir - from a potential #1 pick to nearly a 3rd rounder. That's a massive slide. Can't think of anyone who has slid that far before and still made a career. Hip injury an excuse? Big drop either way.
Stevens - manbeastchild - 101kg to 189cm ratio says he doesn't make it. Slow and poor agility as well won't help mixing it with athletes.

Moir was never ahead of Reid

Worpel was rated as a top 10 by some on here and others externally at a similar point as Moir was
Fair enough. I just never saw it. Everything I read had him 2nd round at best because he was pretty athletically average. Obviously I am just really happy he made it to our pick. Our starting midfield are all low picks in comparison with the rest of the league, but are holding up well despite also being the youngest midfield.

Yeh i think thats why theyve targetted Mackenzie and Ward to go with W.Day which i dont think they expected that midfield year as the 3 top 14 picks

Worpel was awesome in his under age year

Exactly. Very rarely does anyone fall as much as Moir ever make it.

"A potential challenger for the number one mantle" from Rookie Me Central's 2022 draft guide. Worpel was never talked at the levels that Moir was last year.

Child or not, at 15, when the worst of it happened, he was aware of his actions. He’s not the first or the last person to bully someone and yes, he can turn his life around. For his sake, I hope it happens. But for me personally, I’d prefer for him not to be at Collingwood given I’m close with the victim’s family. He will be drafted - I’d be shocked if it doesn’t happen - so the ball’s in his court.

Have you thought about writing a letter to the club? Could be effective in ensuring he doesn't make it there...

Do. Not. Want! (With picks 2 and 3)

Duursma - We have too many of his kind already including Brayden George who is yet to play a game.
Caddy - Can't kick straight.
Watson - Too risky to take a player like him with picks 2 or 3.
Curtin - Not a true KPD for mine. I think his best form was as a midfielder but will probably end up HBF at AFL level.

That is culling an awful lot of the options at 2 and 3. After you get mckercher who is left? Sanders? Osullivan?

I don't want Zane Zakostelsky, even if he is from WA. He was apparently best on ground in the WAFL colts grand final, but his disposal was awful, by both hand and foot. Might be great at getting first hand/fist to the ball, but he's looking uncomfortably like Zac Dawson to me at this stage.

He’d snap Dawson in half like a twig. Nothing alike.

Agree that his kicking is below average though

Nothing could be more North melbourne than drafting 2 more mids with their top 2 picks.

Reaching for osullivan at 3 is an intersting call. I wonder if any North supporter on all of big footy would agree.

The way i see it is that McKercher looks like a clear number 2 and then you can basically throw a blanket over the rest of the top 10.

I think duursma, Curtin and Watson are ahead of Caddy osullivan and Sanders, but it is so easy to just be utterly wrong with this stuff. Who knows.

I'd take O'Sullivan and Sanders over Watson and Curtin every day of the week.
Fair enough! I guess we find out in 3-5 years. :)
It is all a bit of a crapshoot, especially since if you are like me you are basing your analysis off a few games and a bunch of highlights.
