Went down the rabbit hole and ended up watching the extended highlights of our '06 elim final. Features a lot of the guys discussed in this thread - Neitz, Green, Yze, Davey, Rivers, White, Junior, Robbo, Bruce, Jamar, Whelan, and a very young Jones.

Also the game that G Train tried to take on Carroll and got nailed. Great times.

Bloody loved that Melbourne team.

bit easy to say in Retrospect but either these two sides were beating WC or Sydney that Finals series

I recall us having a decent record v the Swans around that time. Might've been able to sneak past them? WC seemed to always beat us easily (although how many of those games were in Perth?)

Yeah I agree sydney weren't the best team in 05 and 06 but they played a style that could match west Coast. We seem to go well in sydney for some reason even though the scg suited Sydney's style, they always seem get the win back in Melbourne, at least in the early 2000’s. We would go okay against west coast but they were always a 4-5 goal better team.

Jeez these votes move quickly, didn't even get a chance to vote in the last one.
Apologies - I tend to move them on when there's a clear winner based on the votes.

A11dAtP0w3R is NOT happy, and wants an 18-month competition. :whitecheck:

I reacted to your apology post with the emoji I did to make you think I was angry but in reality I really wasn't, what a splendid ruse, Les.

Kind of tough one. Davey's best was better, but Junior was a bit more consistent for longer.

Might give it to Davey, as he played a big part in revolutionising the pressure forward role and was a more exciting watch.

Davey was the first pressure forward in the afl, it's kind of forgotten but he started the pressure from forwards. Every club wanted a Davey at that time because his run downs from behind were box office.
You said it about Brayshaw vs Johnstone but I think it applies more here. McDonald was a good honest player but no one was turning the footy on to watch him. Davey was an excitement machine at his peak.

Davey made you feel something when he played
