Is receiving injections breaking any laws
please stop you are embarrassing yourself
players receive injections during games all the time- they trust the doctors to put legal substances in the needles
zaharakis did not believe in the injection program which was his absolute right- and ended up being a wise decision
perhaps you need to join another ex bomber poster and barrack for the swans

Really weird line of argument you're going with; as an average punter taking steroids isn't illegal either.

The players were failed by the club by even being put in that position, but they absolutely - the senior players in particular - should/would have been aware they were pushing in to areas that were close to the line of what's permitted for a professional athlete.

Being told to go off-site and get 'vitamin' injections from someone who's not a club doctor, signing consent forms, told not to report it on ASADA forms and not to tell the club doctor means at best the players were being wilfully ignorant, at worst well aware and deliberately complicit.

This has been rehashed a thousand times already, but from where I stand the process was poor but the outcome was correct.

I also think aside from the shock factor where the Essendon situation was by far the biggest news story to ever hit the AFL landscape, this Hawthorn story that's developing is far worse as it goes well beyond the on-field performance and in to very deep, long-lasting impacts upon players personal lives, relationships and wellbeing.

How the AFL deals with it now that it's been forced in to the public eye will be interesting, as they have no choice but to pursue it properly and the on-field fallout (unfortunately) at the moment is mostly going to hit Brisbane and North more than it will Hawthorn.

Think we should add this young bloke, likable - way to young to have skeletons in the cupboard and speaks very well. :moustache:

I know a couple of posters here made mention of Caracella potentially been at least partly at fault for not having a good plan or able to help enforce Rutten's plan, I guess they could be correct since he has not been invited to interview. Just Gia.

How do you know Caracella wasn't offered to interview and chose not to apply?

I don’t think we get involved unless hawthorn don’t get their absolute right whack
How about the club stands up for itself and the players who were treated unjustly?
my fear is Clarkson will be treated with more leniency than hird
if awfulthorn are not punished for bringing the game into disrepute then our club should go NUCLEAR

I can only assume Cara would apply. I guess there's reasons he wouldn't apply, but I figure he would since he wanted a head coach gig.

Guess we might not find out for a bit if ever if he did.

I would of hoped he would of applied.

He's been gun shy to apply for the head gig for ages. His claim to want a head coach gig was also not that strong TBH.

He also has seen first hand how we (don't) treat and support our coach and how the players don't listen.

I find it very believable he wouldn't want to apply.

wait so what action do the Essendon players make next time they see Sam Mitchell?

I wish this was not as serious so we can take the piss, but this is of utter seriousness that i dont think you can.

Yeah, as much as I would love to lord it over them, this stuff is so obscene it just wouldn't be decent behaviour to do so.

As far as the individual perpetrators, if true, **** em and banish them from footy forever.

If Scott had any ambitions to return to coaching, today's events probably put an end to him considering to coach us.

He may be happy enough to sit it out and watch what happens with the coaching landscape at Brisbane. Despite being a more attractive prospect from a finals perspective, along with being a well run club, hes also a 2 time premiership player going home.

I'm still skeptical of this. Caracella had a long streak of success and experience at other premiership clubs before coming to Essington, it might just have been that the players didn't have the maturity to learn the system fast enough and our senior listed players are mediocre(they don't run both ways, zero pressure, etc) compared to what he had to work with at all those other clubs, we don't really know. It might just be a case of "he-said, he-said". Also i'm not sure if Caracella simply chose to not apply for the role, which frankly, sucks, because he'd be my number 1 contender if he wants to be a head coach, even over Yze and especially Hird.

Caracella and Solomon would be great head coaches, (in my opinion), but i've taken note of their coaching videos and interviews since Blake was at Collingwood and Solomon at the Suns, and i am impressed by the both of them, very vocal/loud and good, stealthy instructors. Caracella grew up as a Magpies supporter and he sort of has this Tony Shaw approach to his leadership, and we all remember him as the shy, silky smooth player at Essendon. But again, his resume is the best in the AFL as a player/assistant coach. I've posted it a few times, but it's a long list of achievements since 1998 to the last Tigers premiership.

It's easy to lay the blame on Blake off a rumour, but i'd suggest it's more to do with the failings of list management and recruitment for the past decade as well as player development not being up to par to even make the finals.
